A Tale of Worlds 2
Chapter 1
This can’t get any worse. Thought Louisa Holl.
She was laying on her bed souronded by piles of homework. I mean piles. She hadn’t done her homework in a month. And now she was paying for it.
“This is stupid! Why do I have to do homework anyway?” Louisa said. She jumped off her bed, knocking a pile of math homework off her bed.
She went over to her PC. And got on Facebook. There was nothing new on there in the past minute so, she checked Twitter and did Facebook over again. And then she got hungry so she went down stairs.
Her black bracelets clicking. And her black boots gleaming in the stain glass windows.
She had on a jean mini skirt with white leggings and a white T-shirt on top with a short jean jacket.
Her brown glasses hanging in her mouth and her strawberry blonde hair. With all that, she was pretty normal. Except when she neared the kitchen, she heard angry voices coming from her mom’s study.
“What do you mean, Leon!?” Madison Holl screamed.
“I’m just saying.—“ Leon started.
“I’m done with you! Just leave!”
“Fine!” And then there was the slamming of the door.
This always took place. It was either, Mark and Madison fighting, or Leon and Madison fighting. Sometimes Alec would come in. And that wasn’t pretty.
You see, ever since Mark, Madison, Leon, Alec, Morgan, Anneabell, and Eon had had that dream about the weird world. Everything kind of has gone upside down. When Madison was old enough, she had married Alec. And they lived happily for awhile, they had had Louisa and everything seemed perfect. Then Leon and Mark started to get jealous. And then Alec accused Madison of loving Mark and Leon. And you can tell what happened.
Alec and Madison divorced, and Madison has blamed it on Leon and Mark. Not even Claws aka Annebell talked to her anymore. It was a war between families.
Eventurly, Mark and Leon moved on and married, but that didn’t go well either. And they were left with kids of their own.
Claws had gotten married too, but she never had any kids. That anyone could tell. Beccuase right after she divorced her husband, she left, and went somewhere and no one knows where.
Eon and Morgon were doing fine. They seemed to be the only sane people in the ‘war’. They tired to stay out of it. But either, Madison, Leon or Mark wanted them to take sides with them. And when they said no. That wasn’t doing well either.
And all of this, Louisa had to live with. When she saw the other kids at school, they avoided her and she avoided them. They all agreed on one thing: If there parents didn’t like their parents then they don’t like the kids.
Which Louisa was fine with. After the door had closed. Louisa crept to the kitchen and went to the fridge.
“Louisa, don’t you have homework to do?” Madison asked. She was leaning in the door way of the kitchen her hair had some grey in it. And she looked tired.
“Yes, but I was hungry.” Louisa said.
“We’ll be having dinner soon.” Sighed Madison.
“But I’m hungry now!” Whined Louisa.
“I said no, Louisa. Go finish your homework.”
Louisa pouted all the way upstairs. Uselly when her mom was tired she would give in. But this time, Madison didn’t.
Madison threw herself on her bed a couple stacks of homework toppled to the floor and sulked.
“Mom’s so annoying. All she cares about it with stupid ‘war’ we’re having. Why don’t’ they all just move away like Annebell did!” Louisa exclaimed.
Louisa didn’t understand why they all lived in the same caldesack as everyone else in the ‘war’ if they hated each other so much, why don’t’ just move away.
“It doesn’t work that way.” Madison had said, when Louisa had asked.
“Yeah, that explains a lot.” Louisa had said.
Madison had just sighed and went to do something else.
Chapter 2
The next day at school, during lunch. Louisa spotted Ryan. Leon’s kid sitting by himself. Which all of the kids in the ‘war’ did. But He looked really unhappy.
So Louisa deiced to get up and see what was wrong.
“Hey, Ryan.” She said.
Ryan looked up at her. His lighting blue eyes piercing into her brown ones.
“What do you want?” he asked.
This was how most of the conversations had gone between the ‘war’ kids.
“You looked unhappy and.—“
“Since when do you care?”
That got Louisa angry. This was another reason that the ‘war’ kids weren’t friends, they made each other angry.
“Gosh! Fine then! Sit there and be sad, what do I care?” and she flipped her strawberry blonde hair and went back to her table.
In art class. Marcie. Mark’s kid was looking sad too.
Has everyone caught the same bug? Louisa thought. She deicded not to talk to Marcie though. Marcie was mean, just like Mark used to be before he was brainwashed. So it wasn’t’ any fun to talk to her.
At recess, Streak, (that’s not his real name, no one knows what it is. So they just go with it) was looking happier than usal. And he’s was usalley pretty happy to begin with. He was Louisa’s half brother. And he annoyed Louisa the most.
Louisa saw him and decided to go hide somewhere. But he saw her.
“Hey stupid!” he said, catching up with her. His strawberry blonde hair gleaming in the sunlight.
All the kids around them, went scarece. They knew what was going to happen.
Louisa turned around. She knew that if she didn’t answer and keep walking he would call her stupid again. And that was annoying. “What?” she said with a sarcastic voice.
“Why aren’t you sad?” Streak asked.
Louisa rolled her eyes. “Why would I be, dummy?”
“Everyone else is sad. That’s why. Stupid.” Streak riepled.
“Well I’m not. And apperntly, your not either. So who cares?” She went to turn around.
“Well, my dad just so happens to have dispeared. And I’m pretty happy.”
Louisa stopped. “Why would you be happy? That’s the most stupidest thing to be happy about. You are dumb, Streak.”
Marcie and Ryan were watching the whole thing. (from a distance of course) and they knew if they didn’t do something, Streak and Louisa would get into a bigger fight.
“Geez, Streak. Lay off.” Marcie said. Walking up to them. “We’re happy for you if your happy. So just go away.”
“You guys do get it do you?” Streak said.
“Apperntly we don’t. And we don’t care.” Ryan said. Crossing his arms.
The teachers had been watching the group and they kept watch. They didn’t want them to break out into a huge fight just like usual.
“Fine then. So I guess you don’t want to know why your parent has disappeared.” Streak said walking away.
“Wait!” Marcie said.
“Yes?” Streak said turning back around and smiling a sly smile.
“Marcie, your and idot!” Louisa snapped. “He was just going to go away!”
“I am not!” Marcie snapped back.
“Are too!”
“Guys! You both are dumb!” Ryan said.
The ‘war’ had begun.
“Well, guess what? I think you’re a spoiled little brat!” Marcie snapped at Louisa.
“Gasp! I didn’t know that! You wanna know why? Because I’m not!” Louisa yelled.
Ryan had been trying to calm the girls. He really didn’t’ like fighting but it was a habit he couldn’t’ break.
“SHUT UP!” He yelled at them.
They both turned to him and yelled. “NO!”
And they countied to scream at each other.
Streak was laughing admiring his handy work. He went to turn around again. But he bumped into Mr. Daron.
“Young man. Stay right here.” He said and he walked over to the others who were still yelling at each other. “Ladies! I’ve had enough of your fighting!” he said to them.
If they had heard him, they didn’t’ stop.
“LADIES!” This time he yelled. Grabbing on to both of them and shoving them towards the building. “Off to the office with you! I don’t care how many times your parents have said to let it go! I am sick and tired of your ‘fights’!”
He looked back at the sneaking away Streak and the stunned Ryan. “Gentlemen. You too.”
Streak cursed and followed. Ryan just shoved his hands in his pockets and followed, studying the ground.
Princeable Time (seriously, that’s his real name) wasn’t happy.
“How many times have you fought? This getting out of hand!” he said.
Louisa, Marcie, Ryan and Streak were all sitting in front of his desk in the office. They didn’t answer.
“Well?”
They a looked at the ground.
“I’m calling your parents.” He said reaching for the phone.
“My dad isn’t home.” Ryan, Streak and Marcie said.
Prinacle Time stopped, hand on the phone. “Really?”
They all nodded.
He took his hand back. “Are your mothers home?”
They gave him a look that clearly said: Are you serious?
Streak was the one who spoke his mind. “I haven’t seen my mom in what?” he counted on his fingers. “In eight years.”
“Same here.” Ryan and Marcie said.
Princelabe Time folded his hands on his desk. “Alright then. Where is your dad then?”
“Um…” Marcie said. “He just left for awhile, he’ll be back in a couple days he said.”
“Who’s staying with you then?” he said, addressing Ryan, Streak and Marcie.
Marcie shrugged. “No one.”
“Well you can’t stay home by yourselves! Your not old enough!” the Princealbe exclaimed. “Do you have anywhere to go?”
They all shook there heads.
Time looked at Louisa. “Ms. Holl, are your parents home?”
Louisa nodded. “My mom. Last time I checked.”
That got a laugh out of Streak.
“Well, I’m going to have to send you three,” he gestured towards, Ryan, Streak and Marcie. “Home with, Louisa.”
“No! No! Bad idea!” They all said.
“Y-yeah. You see how we don’t get along here.—“ Louisa said.
Time put his hand. They shut up. “You are going home with Louisa.” He handed Louisa a note. “This is for your mom explaining everything. Now off with you.”
They all groaned and got up.
*
The walk to Louisa’s house wasn’t fun. They all stayed at least five feet from each other. And they kept arguing all the way there.
“Would you guys shut up? As soon as you get to my house. You can do what you like.” Louisa said, turning around and walking backwards.
“You mean, ghost house.” Streak said laughing.
Louisa rolled her eyes. “Cute. Now shut up.”
Streak shrugged. “What ever.”
Louisa turned back around and they countied down the road.
When they got to the Holl mansion. Louisa didn’t even bother knocking, she just pushed open the door.
“Mom! I’m home and I brought…” she turned and looked at the ‘war’ kids. “People.”
“People? Really?” Marcie said, looking around the room.
“Shut up Marcie. Your not my friends, your just….people.” Louisa said.
“Mom?” Louisa went to the kitchen. Uselly her mom would come out and give her a hug when she got home from school. She saw a note on the fridge:
Dear Louisa,
I had to go all of a sudden. I’ll be back in a couple of days.
Love, Mom
“Seriously?” Louisa said.
“What?” Ryan asked, leaning over her shoulder, she didn’t even hear him come in. She moved to the right away from him.
“My mom, she said she’ll be gone for a couple of days. Like your dads are.”
“Maybe a parent cofrence or something.” Streak said from the hall.
“That’s stupid! Who ever heard of a ‘parent cofrecnce’?” Louisa said.
“There are parent teacher ones.” Marcie suggested.
Louisa rolled her eyes. “What ever. That means you guys have to stay.—“ Louisa stopped herself.
No! No! no! They are not staying! We’ll find their dads and mom and get them out! She thought.
“So what do we do now?” Streak asked. He didn’t let anyone answer. “I say we party. Or something.”
“No! There will be no parting! Not in my house!” Louisa cried.
“My house then.”
“No!” Louisa snapped.
“I agree with Louisa, for once. No partying. Besides, we have to find our mom slash dads.” Marcie said.
“Fine, you guys are a bunch of party poopers.” Streak said.
“Streak, you’re an idiot.” Louisa said.
“Thank you.” He said, he straighten his jock coat and walked down the hall.
“Boys.” Marcie said.
“Really.” Louisa answered, rolling her eyes.
All of the ‘war’ kids had to sleep at Louisa’s house, which none of them were happy about. It was good that Louisa’s had a mansion for a house.
Louisa slept in her room. Marcie, Ryan and Streak slept in the numorus guest rooms throughout the house. They picked rooms that were at least a good twenty feet away from each other.
Louisa had slept in her clothes because with strangers in the house, she was being prepared to run at any moment.
When she got up for a drink of water, her jeans and sweat shirt were wrinkled.
“Mom’s gonna have a fit about this.” She said, “if I ever see her again though.”
She walked down the steps, but when she was almost to the kitchen she heard something shatter and a bunch of: “shhhhh”’s.
Louisa froze. He first thought was run, her second thought was to wake the others. But she pushed those aside and snuck into the kitchen, when she was almost in the kitchen and black figure swept threw.
“I hope it isn’t Batman, because he is scary.” Louisa whispered to herself. Then she whispered: “But Batman isn’t real, unless I’m dreaming.”
Then a light turned on blinding Louisa, she covered her eyes.
“Oh, Louisa.” Someone said, sighing. “I thought you were.—“ then the person stopped. “Nevermind.”
Louisa uncovered her eyes and she saw a teenager whereing a camoflauoge outfit with a poncho.
“E!—“ Louisa went to yell, but Eon rushed forward and covered her mouth.
“Shhh! Don’t wake everyone up!” he hissed.
The shoved his hand off her mouth. “Why? Why are you hear anyway?”
Eon put his gloved hands back into his poncho. “We came here for something.”
Chapter 3
“We?” was Louisa’s first question. Then her second question was: “What do you want?”
“Woah! Chill. Morgan and I are here, and we came to get a key from you.” Eon answered.
“Morgan? Where?” Louisa asked.
“Right here, Lou.” Morgan said. Coming from behind her, she was wearing normal jeans and a T-shirt, which Louisa was glad about.
“And about that key…” Eon said.
Then there was a noise from one of the guest bedrooms.
“Ugh.” Louisa said.
“Oh, do you have guests? Maybe we should leave…” Morgan said, mostly to Eon.
“No, just annoying people who I don’t like.” Then she ran down the hall. “Streak! If you have broken something I am going to kill you!” she yelled.
“Oh, those annoying people.” Eon said to Morgan and they followed.
“it was Marcie’s fault! Not mine!” Streak yelled.
“Really? Is Marcie even in here?” Louisa said.
“Oh, whatya know, she isn’t.” Streak said, blushing.
Louisa rolled her eyes.
“Get everyone together, Streak. Eon and Morgan are here.” Louisa said.
“Who?” Streak asked.
Louisa glared at him.
“oh! Them, got it.” And he ran down the hall.
One everyone was in one room and Eon and Morgan were at the head of the room. They got down to what they wanted.
“We know that there’s a room in this house that Madison keeps locked at all times. And we know that one of you has they key to the room, and we would like it.” Eon said.
“What key?” they all said at once.
Eon crossed his arms. “Really?”
They all nodded, all in time together. They had practiced this with their mom\dads. They’re parents had told them someday someone would want that key, and that no one would allowed to have it. No matter what.
But their way of answering at the same time and nodding in time together, wasn’t hiding it very well.
Eon’s dark brown eyes stared them down, so hard that they had to look at the floor.
“We know that you have the key. We need it, so we can go help your parents.”
That didn’t even get them to look up.
“Guys, we need it.” Eon begged.
They shook their heads.
“So, you have the key.”
Marcie and Louisa gasped. And covered their mouths.
“Girls are stupid.” Streak said.
Louisa uncovered her mouth. “Are not! It’s just…Well, you nodded too!”
“But…” Streak deicded he wasn’t going to win.
“We need the key. SO give it.” Eon said.
“Eon, that isn’t going to work…” Morgan said.
“What are we soupossed to do then?” Eon snapped. Turning to Morgan.
“Excuse me?” Morgan said.
Eon sighed. No matter how much they vowed never to fight and try not to get into the ‘war’ it never worked.
“Please.” He said one last time.
Marcie had tears in her eyes. “I-I don’t’ have the key…” she took a deep breath. “But I have part of it.” She took out a small metal pieace.
Eon nodded. “So the rest of you must have the other pieaces.”
“We…” Louisa said. “We’re…We…”
“We’re not allowed to give anyone our pieaces.” Ryan finished for her.
“My dad said he’d kill me if I did.” Streak shivered.
“When are you scared, Streak? Like never.” Louisa said, rolling her eyes.
“You don’t know him that’s all.” Streak snapped.
“Well, I can’t because my mom made a restraining order. So that I can’t go in ten feet from him. And vise versa. But he’s never around when I’m there, so there’s really no point. I don’t think he cares anyway.” Louisa said, shrugging.
“Your dad might die if you don’t give us your pieaces.” Eon said.
Morgan nodded. “Please guys.”
The ‘war’ kids reucltently took out there pieaces which they always kept with them, and they handed them to Eon and Morgan.
Eon snapped the pieaces together to create one key.
And Eon and Morgan hurried to the room where Madison always kept locked.
Ryan, Streak, Marcie and Louisa had to run to keep up with them.
Eon put the key in the lock of the large oak door. And turned it. The lock snapped and the door swung open.
Chapter 4
“It’s empty.” Streak said.
But Morgan and Eon didn’t think it was empty. They just went in and they disappeared!
“Eon! Morgan!” Louisa cried. She went to go in after them but Ryan grabbed her arm.
“Wait! We don’t know what happen to them!” He said.
“So?” Louisa glared down at his hand, which was around her arm.
He let go. “Sorry. But they could of went somewhere dangerous.”
“What’s so dangerous about a room?” Marcie said and she went inside it. And disappeared.
“I don’t’ think this is such a good idea.” Ryan said. With a perfect, flawless English accent.
Louisa’s eyes got wide.
Streak said: “Woah, dude. Where’d you get the accent?”
“What?” Ryan asked, with the accent.
“You have a English accent!” Louisa cried. “That’s not normal.”
“What do you mean.—“ Ryan started. “Wow, your right.”
Streak laughed. “You sound wicked. Seriouly.”
“Ryan, that’s annoying. Stop. Your creeping me out.” Louisa said. Eyeing the room.
“I can’t!” Ryan cried.
“I’m going in this room, his accent is creeping me out too.” And Streak jumped into the room and disappeared.
Louisa went to go out after him.
“Louisa, wait.” Ryan said.
“Ryan, I’m going. To just please, please, stop talking. You sound like a Kabra, and it’s creeping me out.” And Louisa jumped into the room. Leaving Ryan not choice but to jump in after her.
The fall seemed to go one forever. Louisa had to put a hand over her mouth to keep from screaming in fear. Then she landed and it hurt. A lot.
“Ow!” she cried.
Ryan fell next to her. And he cried out in his English accent.
“Oh goodness. Where are we now?” he asked.
He was talking like a English kid and it was really seriously creeping Louisa out.
“Ryan! SHUT UP!” She yelled at him.
“Why?” he yelled back, trying to get to his feet.
“Because! Your CREEPING ME OUT!” She yelled.
“Well, sorry! Like it’s my fault!” he yelled back at her.
Louisa covered her ears with her hands. And walked away.
“Louisa!” Ryan called after her.
“Shut up. Let’s go find…I don’t know! Someone!” Louisa yelled.
“Fine!” Ryan snapped. And he rushed after her.
They walked, and walked, and walked, and walked until Louisa thought she was going to die, if she had to walk another step.
“Ugh! I can’t walk anymore!” she moaned.
“Seriously, Louisa. We’ve only walked for what…” he looked at his cell phone. “Oh…three hours.”
“See? Boys are she annoying. They think they know everything.” Louisa sat down on a rock.
“We do! I mean…” Ryan said. “Oh! I don’t know.”
“See? You don’t know everything! Girls are so much smarter than boys.”
“Are not!”
“Are too!”
While they were arguing, they didn’t hear a large creature sneaking up on them. Until it was on them.
“Well, well, aren’t you too noisy. I’m sure the King will like you as what? Hmmmm…let met think…pets!” the Thing laughed.
Louisa screamed.
“Who are you?” Ryan’s voice shook.
“You sound like that peskey prince I knew one time. But no matter. The King will like you anyway.” The Thing said.
“Ryan! Do something!” Louisa screamed.
“I thought boys didn’t’ know anything?” Ryan snapped.
“Ok, you do. Now just…DO SOMETHING!”
“What do I do?” Ryan yelled.
“ANYTHING!” Louisa screamed.
“Now, now. If you behave, the King might be kind.” The Thing said reaching for Louisa.
Then Ryan felt it. A strange tingly feeling inching threw his body and then it got to his hands and he let out a yell and threw the engry inside him at the Thing.
The Thing yelped and then fell to the ground.
Ryan grabbed Louisa’s hand and pulled her to her feet. “Come on!” And he pulled her along as they ran threw the forest. They could hear the roars of the Thing behind them.
“W-what was that?” Stammered Louisa.
“I don’t know, but he works for a king of some kind.” Ryan answered.
They ran until they could run no more and they stopped and took a breather.
Louisa looked down at her hand which, Ryan still had a grip on and she pulled it away. “You know, I can run by myself.”
“Well you wouldn’t of moved without me! You were frozen to the spot!” Ryan said crossing his arms. “Aren’t you ever greatful?”
“No! Not to boys!” Louisa yelled.
Then there was a schreech.
“What.—“ Louisa started. Ryan clamped his hand on her mouth.
“Shut up!” he hissed. They backed further into the trees. Then Louisa fell.
Ryan turned around and saw Louisa falling stories down into a river.
“LOUISA!” He screamed. Then a blur flew past. Catching Louisa.
It was a Volaseagle.
Ryan tried to get that engry again. So that he could help Louisa but he couldn’t.
“Let me go!” Louisa screamed at the bird.
In reply, it schreeched. Then a arrow shot it in the leg and it dropped Louisa.
“I take it back!” Louisa screamed. She closed her eyes and waited for the end.
Then, a Royal Black caught her.
Louisa still had her eyes clamped shut.
“Louisa Holl. What in the name of trees are you doing here?” Mark asked.
Louisa opened one eye and saw Mark who was smiling at her. He had caught her. And she was in his arms.
She opened another eye said: “Um…”
“You don’t have to answer that now.” Mark said. HE put her down.
“Thanks.” Louisa said. “That was scary.”
Marks face went back to it’s stern look. “It’s dangerous here. Why are you here?”
“I thought you said I could answer that later?” Louisa asked.
Mark raised any eyebrow. He had his black hat, poncho and his whole Royal Black gig. But he was thrity years old now, so he looked a little odd in it.
Louisa crossed her arms. “I refuse to answer your question.”
“Your so much like your mom.” Mark said. Smiling.
“My mom! Where is she?” Louisa cried.
Mark’s face became sad. He opened his mouth to saw something went a roar and a scream came from the forest.
Mark pushed Louisa behind him. And he drew his sword.
A frightened Ryan came rushing out of the forest and an angry Thing came out behind him.
“Ryan!” Louisa let out a sigh of relif.
The Thing roared as Mark shot an arrow at it. And it crumpled to the ground.
“Ok. You two have a lot of explaining to do.” Mark said.
Ryan told the whole story, starting with the fight at the playground. When he had finished. Mark said:
“I have not seen Eon and Morgan. Are you sure that it was them?”
“Yes! Gosh, don’t grown-ups ever beilve us?” Louisa said.
“Louisa, I know your upset. I just want to get the facts straight.” Mark said.
“I’m positive it was them.” Louisa said.
“Alright, come.” Mark said spinning around his poncho almost smaking Ryan in the face.
Ryan swatted it out of the way. “Where?”
“To the camp. You see, Alec was the first one to come back here. We don’t know how he got here. But we had to stop him. He has become so jealous that he has taken.—“ Mark was cut off by a scream. And a bunch of men yelling.
Louisa ran past Mark and into the trees.
“Louisa! No!” Mark said, running after her. And again, Ryan was left with no choice but to follow.
Men in battle armor, were shouting at something or someone in a tree. When they saw Louisa, they said.
“Looky here! Another one!” one of them said.
“I gather they came here together, the King will pay nicely for both of them.” Another said.
Louisa thought that running was a bad idea. So she started to back up and she ran into Mark.
“Excuse me, gentlemen. But she is with me.” Mark said, he drew his bow and all of the men ran.
“I didn’t know you could scare people like that.” Louisa said, taking a deep breath.
“You should of seen me back in the day. I scared your mother.” Mark said.
“She told me.” Louisa said, and then she hurried over to the tree and looked up. And a very scared Marcie was clinging to a branch.
“Marcie! Thank God your alright!” Louisa cried.
“L-L-Louisa…” Marcie said.
Mark came over to look up. “Marcie! Are you alright, honey?” he asked. Marcie climbed down. “Daddy!” she cried and she gave him hug.
“Oh, daddy. It was so scary! Those men…and you leaving me alone and I had to stay with the brats. And…”
“Brats! You were the brat!” Louisa snapped.
“I was not!” Marcie cried.
“Were too!”
And the girls started a ‘war’ right there.
Mark felt like crying if only this stupid ‘war’ hadn’t rubbed off on the children. He thought.
“Ok, you two, off to the camp.” He said.
Marcie clinged to Mark all the way there. Louisa followed behind mumbling to herself with crossed arms, and Ryan put his hands in his pockets and followed, looking at the ground.
“So, Mark, about what you were talking about ealier.” She glared at Marcie. Marcie stuck her tounge out at Louisa.
“Oh yes, as I was saying. Alec is so jealous, that he has taken your mother. And mostly every living thing has joined him in his task to take over all Worlds.” Mark said.
“He took my mother? But I thought that you know…” Louisa said.
“He is jealous. That’s all you need to know. Now we only have a few things on our side. So we need all the help we can get. So you cannot. I repeat, you cannot distract us. Do you understand?”
Louisa crossed her arms. “Sure. Whatever.”
Madison hasn’t taught her any manners. Mark thought.
And they countied on.
When they got to the camp, Louisa was surprised what she saw:
There were at least ten red tents with table in front of some of them which they made weapons on.
The camp was in a valley so they had to go down a steep slope to get to the camp. Marcie, acting three clung to Mark so much was Mark finalley picked her up. And Ryan and Louisa ran down the hill.
“Show offs!” Marcie yelled after them.
“Your just too scared to do anything!” Louisa snapped back.
Louisa was older than all of the ‘war’ kids, but Marcie was the youngest, but only by a couple months. Louisa was born first, then Ryan then Streak and then Marcie. So she was the one so complain the most.
“Wow, this is so cool!” Louisa said.
“I wonder where my dad is…” Ryan said.
“I don’t know. Go look.” Louisa said. She ran around looking in tents.
“WOW! Check this out Ryan!” She sqealed.
“What?” Ryan asked, looking in the tent.
“Dude, this is so Narnia!”
“What?” Ryan asked.
“You know. Those books: The Lion, the Witch and the Wordrobe. Horse and His Boy?”
Ryan shook his head.
“What do you read then?”
“Nothing. Mostly TV, video games. Boy stuff.”
“No fair. I would love to be able to do that. Don’t get me wrong, I like reading, but I don’t get to do anything like that.”
Ryan went to say something when two angry voices came from outside.
“Where is he?” Leon yelled.
“How should I know! He ran off as soon as we got here!” Mark yelled back.
Marcie whimpered.
Leon groaned and came to the tent that Louisa and Ryan were in.
“Hide me!” Hissed Ryan.
“Why?” Louisa hissed back.
“Be.—“
The tent flaps flew open and Ryan’s eyes got large.
A very angry looking Leon was staring right at him. He wore his usal black clothes, just like he wore black dress pants instead of jeans and a black business shirt.
He kind of reminded Louisa of Peter Parker in Spider Man Three.
“Ryan, get out here right now.” Leon commanded.
Ryan pushed his hands in his pockets and looked down at the ground as he passed his father.
Sure, Louisa had seen Leon before, but she had never seen him so…angry.
Louisa looked around the room. Trying to avoid eye contact with Leon. Madison had always told her never to look into his eyes when he was mad. You could get shocked.
“Louisa, you too.” He said, in a kinder voice.
“Why?” Louisa whined, still not looking at Leon.
Leon sighed. “Your so much like Madison.” Then he said in a firmer tone. “Because, I said so.”
Louisa sighed and trudged out the tent door.
Marcie was still whimpering and clinging to Mark. “Marice, dear. You need to let go.”
“No!” Marcie whined.
“Marcie. Now.” Mark said.
Marcie let go reluctantly.
Ryan was standing next to Marcie, so Louisa decided to stand next to Ryan. Arms folding across her chest.
Leon still didn’t look happy. “Now, I’m only going to ask this once: Why are you here?”
“Beucase, we wanted to find you. Because leaving your kids behind isn’t.—“ Louisa started.
“I don’t need the sarcasim, Louisa.” Leon said.
“Whatever.” Louisa said.
Leon turned to Ryan. Who was still looking at the ground. “Ryan, why are you here?”
“Just what Louisa said.” Ryan said to the ground.
Leon sighed and turned to Mark. “We’re getting nowhere.”
“All I know is that Eon and Morgan soupossdely wanted to ‘help’ us so they forced them to give them their key parts.—“ Then Mark stopped. And he counted the children. “Only three. There were four parts of the key. Where’s Alec’s boy?”
Louisa’s head shot up. “Streak!” she turned to Marcie. “Where is he? You were the one he jumped in after.”
“I don’t know!” Marcie wailed.
“You are such a baby!” Louisa snapped.
“Am not!” cried Marcie.
“Silence! Both of you!” snapped Leon.
They turned and Louisa could of sworn she felt a shot go threw her body, when Leon looked at her.
“We’re getting nowhere with your fights! Nowhere!” Leon asked.
“You fight all you want, and no ones tells you not too!” Louisa snapped.
“Louisa…” Ryan reached for her arm.
She stepped out of his reach. “How come you can fight? We can’t we?”
“B-Beucase, Louisa, it’s complacited.” Leon said.
“You mean for kids? Just because we’re kids? We have been threw a lot of drama already in our lives. And you don’t think we can understand?”
“Louisa, that is quite enough.” Mark said.
“It’s not.—“ Ryan clamped his hand on her mouth. And he hissed into her ear . “My dad is going to get mad. So just deal with what he says. Ok?” He didn’t say it meanly, he said it kindly. He sounded stressed to Louisa.
Louisa nodded and shoved his hand off her mouth. And she crossed her arms.
Leon eyed Ryan. Ryan just looked around him.
And Leon contuined. “I’ll come back to that topic later. Now I want all of you to get some sleep, I will send out some people to find Streak.”
Marcie was the first to run to a tent. Ryan went to a tent. And Louisa went to go.
“Louisa, wait.” Leon asked.
Louisa clenched and unclenched her fist and turned around. “Yes?” she said, sarcasticly.
“I just want you to know, we’re trying everythingn we can to get your mother back, we really are.”
“Ok. Done?” Louisa said.
Leon had to try very hard not to zap Louisa on the spot. “Yes.”
She flipped her strawberry blonde hair and went to a tent. When she was sure no one could hear her she yelled.
“Aw, that’s better.” And she laid down on the cot in the room and went to sleep.
Chapter 5
In the middle of the night, Louisa heard Ryan talking to himself. Since she’s not a good sleeper when it comes to noise, she got up to see why he was talking to himself.
“Knock, knock.” She said on his door.
“Come in.” Ryan said.
“You know, you should ask your dad about your accent.” Louisa said, coming into the tent.
“I know. But he’s mad at me I think.”
“You think?” Louisa said, she sat down on his cot. “You woke me up. Why are you talking to yourself?”
“Sorry, I’m just…not tired.” Ryan said.
“Yeah, that explains a lot.” Louisa rolled her eyes.
“Oh shut up.”
“Whatever.” Louisa crossed her arms and looked around the tent.
“I’m sorry for what I did earlier…I was stressed.”
“Ya think?” Louisa said.
Ryan groaned, “Just say you forgive me.”
“Ok…I forgive you.”
“I have a feeling you don’t apolizje a lot.”
“Nope.”
Then there was a scream.
“What the…?” Louisa and Ryan said. They went outside just to see Streak run past running full speed.
“No wonder his name is Streak.” Louisa said. “WHY ARE YOU RUNNING YOU COWARD?!” She yelled at the running Streak.
“THERE AFTER ME!” He screamed.
“WHO—“ Louisa started.
Ryan pointed. “Them.”
A bunch of amry people were running down the hill.
“Wait, those are the men Leon sent out to find Streak.” Louisa said.
“Yeah, your right.” Ryan said.
Louisa ran in front of the mob. “STOP!” She commanded.
They didn’t stop.
She tried again. “STOP!”
They still didn’t stop. Louisa was getting angry. “I SAID STOP!” She screamed.
Then she felt engry coursing through her. And it came almost to her hands when she put her hand over her mouth and ran behind a tent.
“Louisa?” Ryan said, then he remembered the mob.
“STOP!” He yelled at it.
They stopped.
“You idots! Why didn’t you stop for her?!” he asked them.
“Um…Wait, your not the Leader. You have to authority to stop us!” one of them said.
“Woah, what’s going on?” Leon asked. Mark was coming up behind him.
“We were just chasing that boy.” One of them said, pointing to the cowarding Streak.
Leon sighed. “No you idots. You were soupossed to bring him back. Not chase him back!”
They hung there heads. “Sorry.”
Leon moitened his hand and the mob departed and went to there tents.
“Why are you out of bed?” Leon asked Ryan.
Ryan looked down at the ground. “Because, we heard Streak scream.”
Leon sighed.
Why can’t I be like Louisa and not coward? Ryan thought to himself. Then he thought of Louisa.
Leon spoke his thought though: “Where’s Louisa?”
“She was trying to make the mob stop, but then she covered her mouth and ran behind that tent.”
Then there was a really gross sound.
Mark was the first to regester the sound and he ran to the tent Louisa was by.
“Oh my gosh. What was that?” Streak asked. He seemed to have recovered quickly from his shock.
“It seems her powers have mutured and she wasn’t ready for them. She is getting sick.” Leon said and he hurried to the tent.
“Oh, that is wrong.” Streak said.
“I was ready when my came. But Louisa is different.” Ryan said.
“Sure.” Said Streak, crossing his arms.
Just then Mark and Leon returned with a very sick tired looking Louisa, she had a white cloth over her mouth and nose.
“Just hold that on, Louisa. It’ll make you stop getting sick.” Mark said.
Louisa nodded. And took a deep breath.
Mark led her back to her tent.
“Streak, I would like you to come with me.” Leon said.
“Why?” Streak asked, he raised an eyebrow.
Instead of answering, Leon pushed Streak to a tent.
Ryan went to see how Louisa was doing.
“Are you alright?” he asked her.
She just nodded.
“Leon will have to help her with her power problems. I’m just he doctor.” He laughed. But then he saw the serious faces of the ‘war’ kids and stopped. “I’ll be back. Just keep that on your face, Louisa.”
Louisa nodded again. But as soon as he was gone she took it off. “Oh! That smells sick.”
Ryan smiled a weak smile.
“Why are you here?” she asked. She was clearly annoyed.
“I just wanted to see.—“
“Just please, go away.” She moaned.
Ryan went out of the tent. Bumping into Leon.
“How is she?” he asked.
“I have no idea. She just kicked me out.” Ryan said.
Leon laughed. “Go get some sleep, Ryan.”
Leon went in the tent to see Louisa practicly crying.
“Hey, hey. It’ll be alright.” Leon said.
“No it won’t!” she said. Chocking back sobs.
“Crying isn’t going to help. You need to stop.” Leon said. He pushed the cloth back on Louisa’s face. “Hold that there.” He sat down beside her.
“I-I can’t! I really want my mom.” Louisa started to cry then.
“Louisa, you need to chill. Your powers are so big, that you can’t control them. I had that problem.”
“You did?” Louisa asked. But she really didn’t care.
“Yes. Except I destroyed things my accident. So you have it easy.”
“I doubt it. I rather destroy things.” Then she leaned forward and threw up.
I think that too. Leon thought.
He told Louisa to lay down and keep the cloth on her face. And he went to talk to Mark.
“I don’t know her powers.” Leon said. “So I can’t really help her. Blue Electrity is different from Red Electirty.”
Mark nodded. “Did you talk to Streak?”
“Yes. But he has so much adtuide I can’t really get anything out of him.”
“He’s a mini Alec.” Mark said.
“Yes, he is.” Then they stood there for a second thinking.
“I think we need to go and see Alec.” Mark said.
“What? Are you mad?” Leon cried.
“Clearly, you can’t help her. And either Madison or Alec can help her. Also, since she’s a Abzober too. And that’s double the problem.”
“I don’t care! Alec won’t help. He’s so full of himself. Taking Madison like that.” Leon said.
“I’m mad at him too. But someone has to help her.” Mark said.
Then they heard that horrible sound again.
“See?” Mark said.
Leon sighed. “Your right, but I don’t like it.”
Just then, Streak burst into the tent. “What is she doing in there? I can’t sleep!”
“Go back to bed, Streak.” Leon sighed.
“Why? You can’t tell me what to do.”
“I can. Now go!”
“Fine.” And Streak crossed her arms and walked out. And then Mark and Leon heard him throw up.
“Oh dear.” Leon said.
Mark rushed out the door to help him.
“This is going to be harder than we thought.” Leon said.
Chapter 6
The next day, Louisa refused to eat or drink anything.
“I don’t want anything!” she had cried.
“You need to eat something.” Mark had coaxed.
“No!”
So he gave up on that.
Streak refused to eat anything either.
“This is not going to work.” Mark told Leon. “We need to send someone to get Alec.”
“Or Madison.” Leon added.
“Leon, get over it. She doesn’t love you.” Mark said.
“Really? What gave you that idea?” Leon snapped.
“I just know. You see how she married Alec.”
“Maybe she just didn’t want us to get jealous.” Leon said.
“But we did!” Mark snapped.
“Your impossible.” Leon walked away.
Ryan had heard the conversation, and was determinded to help. He went to Louisa first.
“My dad is only trying to help you.” Ryan said to her. She was sitting on a bench under a oak tree.
Louisa leaned against the tree. Hand on stomach. “I don’t want to eat anything.”
“Louisa, the only way your going to get better.—“
“I know! You don’t need to tell me!” then she leaned forward and threw up. Again.
Ryan thought that he would go talk to Streak then.
“Go, away.” Streak said.
And Ryan just went. Streak and Louisa were made of the way genes. They were stubborn.
When he went to talk to his dad, he heard Mark and him arguing. So he just went somewhere else. There was only one for person left to talk to: Marcie.
“Hi, Marcie.” He said.
“Hey, Ryan.” Marcie was on the ground, picking grass out with her fingers.
“Are you alright?”
“No. I just wish my dad would act more like him.”
Ryan sat down next to her. “He’s busy. Your dad and my dad aren’t getting along.”
“Yeah, I can see that.”
No matter when or where the ‘war’ kids would talk to each other. There would always be sarcarim in their voices.
“Hey, it’s gonna be ok.” Ryan said.
“Really?” Marcie looked up at him. Her eyes were red from crying. “Because I don’t think so.”
“Ryan! Come here please!” Leon called from the tent.
Ryan got up and went to the tent.
“Mark and I have deicided, since there isn’t anything else for Louisa to throw up. We want you to keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn’t run away or something.”
Ryan nodded. “Sure.”
“Streak on the other hand. Is still having problems.”
“The boys a bottumless pit.” Mark commented.
Ryan smiled. “You should of seen him at lunch at school.”
“Now, Ryan. Now I see that Louisa can’t have any food. Because she’ll throw it back up. So until we can find a way to fix her powers. She can’t eat. But make sure she drinks at least a cup of water everyday. Understood?” Mark said.
“Yes.” Ryan said.
“Good. I’ve already told Louisa. So just go and talk to her. And Ryan.” Leon said.
Ryan stopped at the opening of the tent.
“Don’t fight with her. It’ll make her stressed.”
Ryan nodded. And went out.
Leon turned to Mark. “Let’s hope this works.”
“It better. I can’t stand there fighting.” Mark said.
“You know it’s our fault though. We have to fix it.” Leon said.
Mark looked at him. “If only you would of let it go about Madison marrying Alec, we wouldn’t have this problem.”
“Excuse me? You were jealous too!”
And they started a ‘war’ right there.
“I wasn’t! You couldn’t just get over it that she liked me better!”
“She liked you? When was that? I reameber you hurting her every chance you got!” Leon snapped.
“I did not!”
“Did too!”
Ryan was outside the tent when he heard all of this. He felt sad. Was he the only person who wasn’t sad or angry about something?
He dicded to go see Louisa.
She was laying on her cot, face down. In her pillow and she was shaking. “I want my mom!” she was sobbing.
Ryan had never seen Louisa this upset. She usalley acted all tough and was brave and all. And he certainly never heard her say she wanted her mom. She usaelly complained about how annoying her mom was.
“Um…” he stood there, not knowing what to say.
She hadn’t heard him come in. So Louisa just kept on crying.
Ryan felt uneasy. So he deicded to go back out.
When he went out. He sat at the door to it. Trying to figure out what to say.
Mark walked by. “Is she ok?” he asked.
Ryan shook his head. “I have no idea. She’s crying and…”
“Oh, I get it. How about I go in and get her calmed down and you can come in a talk after she’s calmed down?”
Ryan nodded. And Mark walked in. When he came back out a couple of mintues later, he nodded at Ryan and Ryan took a deep breath in went it.
Chapter 7
Louisa was still on her cot and she was looking the other way. And she was sniffleing.
“Hey.” Ryan said.
“Just go away.” Louisa said and she laid back down and her hands flew to her face.
“Well…um…I can’t.”
Louisa opened some of her fingers on her face and looked at him with one eye. “Really?”
“Really.” He smiled.
Lousia just groaned. And then she clutched her stomach.
“There’s nothing more for you to throw up you know.” Ryan said.
“I know, but I still don’t feel good.” She sat up still holding her stomach. “All that engry wants to come out, but I can’t make it.”
“my dad says that Red Lightning is different from Blue Lightning, but they have to be the same. I just always constrate on what I want to zap. And then it does. But when your angry, they kinda go everywhere.”
Louisa smiled a weak smile. “Yeah. I’ve tried.”
And then a uncofterble silence came.
Then there was a scream.
Ryan jumped up from the cot and ran outside. Louisa followed still clutching her stomach. “What’s going on?” she asked.
“I don’t’ know.” Ryan answered.
They heard the scream again.
“It’s coming from the forest!” Ryan said. He ran to the forest, with Louisa behind him. “Stay back here.” He said.
“No! I want to come!” Louisa said.
Ryan sighed. “Fine.” He took Louisa’s hand.
When they got to the forest, they saw Marcie and two men and she had a gag in her mouth and one of the men was tying her hands.
“What are you doing?” Louisa asked them. She pulled her hand away from Ryan’s.
“Well, look at this,” one of the men said. “The King wanted you so we’re just obeying.”
“What King?” Louisa asked. She was getting her attudie back.
One of the men shoved Marcie back she fell, to the ground.
“Don’t hurt her!” Louisa screamed at them.
Marcie as on the ground trying to regain her blance.
“Come now, now just come nicely, and we promise we won’t hurt you. Too much.”
Ryan had pushed Louisa behind him. He was trying to get his powers to work. And they weren’t coming.
“Ryan, I’m gonna throw up.” Louisa said. She coverd her mouth. And clutched her stomach.
“How can you? There’s nothing left.” He hissed. “It’s your power, just make it go to your hands.”
Louisa nodded and closed her eyes.
“Aww, scared?” one of the men said. Ryan kept moving backwards.
Louisa felt the engery going to her hands and then, she opened her eyes and the were red. And glowing. And she screamed and the power came out of her hands and on to the men. Knocking them clean to the forest floor.
Louisa’s eyes went back to their normal color. And she took a deep breath. “Wow.”
Ryan just stared at her.
She turned to him. “It’s rude to stare!”
Ryan looked away, “Sorry.” And he went to untie Marcie.
“RYAN!” Leon bellowed.
“Oh man. I am so dead.” Ryan said.
“Yup. You so are.” Louisa crossed her arms.
Ryan glared at her.
“Guys! Don’t fight!” Marcie whined.
“Shut up, Marcie. We can if we want to.” And with that, Louisa turned and walked back to camp.
Chapter 7
On the way down the hill to the camp, Louisa passed Leon and Mark. Who were running up the hill to find them. And soupossdely, kill Ryan.
Then they stopped, after they had passed Louisa like a whole minute ago.
“Wait, if Louisa is there. Then…” Mark said.
“I’m still going to kill him.” Leon said. And he coutnied to climb the hill.
Mark sighed and turned back to follow Louisa.
“Louisa!” He called.
She turned around. “What?”
“Why did you run off?”
“I didn’t! We heard Marcie scream and then we went to check it out. And I made Ryan take me. So there’s no reason to kill him.” Louisa flipped her hair and turned back around.
Mark wasn’t sadisfied. And he was sick of the aduttide. He grabbed Louisa by the arm and dragged her all the way back down the hill. Louisa told him to let go, at least a million times.
He made her sit down in the tent. And they waited until Leon came back with Ryan. And Leon didn’t look happy. Ryan seemed to get the message, and he imaddently sat down in the chair next to Louisa. Marcie was crying. But Mark made her sit down too.
Leon crossed her arms. “Ok. I want the truth. What were you guys doing!?”
Mark in a more clam voice said, “You weren’t soupossed to let Louisa run away Ryan!”
“I didn’t.” Ryan said. Looking at the ground.
“I made him. I already told you!” Louisa got up. But Leon and Mark gave her the: Sit down look. She sat back down.
“It’s too dangerous for you to be out. Alec has been sending out scouts for you. And apperntly, some of them found Marcie.”
Marcie whimpered.
Louisa rolled her eyes.
Mark caught her at this. “Louisa, I am not your parent, but the addutide has to stop.”
Louisa rolled her eyes again and looked at the wall of the tent.
“Louisa!” Leon snapped.
Louisa turned to him. “What?”
“You know very well ‘what’.” Leon said.
“Can I go now?” Louisa asked. Suddenly embarrassed.
“No.” Mark said.
Louisa clenched her fists. “Don’t say ‘no’. I want to go now!”
“We’re not done talking.” Mark said.
“Well I am!” And Louisa got up she bumped into Mark on the way out and he cried: “Ow!”
Then they heard Louisa scream and a flash of Red Lightning came from outside.
Mark rubbed his arm. “Apperntly, she has gotten her powers to work.”
“By the looks of it.” He looked at Ryan, who was still looking at the ground. And Marcie who was still crying, but no tears were coming out.
“Alright, you can go. I belive you.”
Marcie was the first to go. She ran out of the tent. With Ryan on her heels. Still looking at the ground.
When they got out there, they saw Louisa throwing her hands in the air and screaming. Red Lightning flashed everywhere.
And that Lightnting, had caught Madison Holl attension. Madison was on a balcony in the castle of Electrity.
“Louisa?” Madison whispered. She had prayed that Louisa hadn’t come into the world. Alec would do anything to get her.
Madison had refused to wear what Alec wanted her to. She was wearing a blue blouse with black dress pants. Her blonde hair was up in a half ponytail.
And that horrid black ring was on her finger though.
“Madison darling!” Alec chimed.
“Go away, Alec! I’m busy!” Madison snapped. “And don’t’ call me ‘darling’!”
“I just thought you’d be interested in the where abouts of our daughter.” Alec said through the door.
Madison almost stopped breathing. “She’s not your daughter, Alec! She’s mine. And you know very well why!”
“It’s Electrity!” Alec yelled.
“I can call you what I want. Now go away.”
Alec\Electristy cursed and left the door.
“Oh, Louisa, please be careful.” Madison whispered.
Chapter 8
“Louisa, please sit back down!” Cried Mark.
Louisa sat.
“Now, this plan is a good one. If we’re ever going to get Alec off our backs. We need to stop him once and forall.” Leon said.
“But sending us to do it? That’s just…stupid!” Louisa snapped.
“It’s not. Because knowing Alec, he will probably come himself for you. And then we can just Wello right to you.”
Welloing is a jello and water thing that if you know how to use it. You can do amazing things with it.
“So we’re bait?” Louisa said. Raising an eyebrow.
Leon cleared his throat. “Pretty much.”
“No Daddy!” Marcie wailed. “I won’t go!”
“Marcie, you are going. Don’t worry. When we need me, just do the secret code. And I’ll Wello right to you.” Mark soothed.
Marcie clapped her hands.
“When your in danger, you can. No other time.”
Marcie stopped clapping.
“Now, it’s not a bad plan. It’s a good one. Now tomorrow we start. Just go with it. Everything will be fine.” Leon said.
All of the ‘war’ kids, including Streak, mumbled their out of the tent door.
“This is suicide!” Louisa exclaimed. The next morning when everyone was getting ready to go on the mission.
“I agree with, Louisa. For once.” Streak said. He stuffed a shirt into his satchel.
“I don’t want to go!” Whined Marcie.
“Shut up, Marice. There not going to change their minds. Even if we begged them.” Louisa said. “And I’ve tried.”
Marcie burst into tears and ran out the door. No one followed.
“Do we have to bring her?” Streak asked.
“Yes.” Louisa moaned.
“Maybe we could ductape her mouth closed.” Ryan suggested. It was the first thing he’d said the whole morning.
“You know, that’s not a bad idea.” Streak said.
Louisa hit him in the head. “Mark and Leon wouldn’t let us. And I’ve had enough talk about ‘being nice’ and ‘getting along’.”
Streak went to hit Louisa back, but she side stepped and Streak hit the pole holding the tent up.
“Ow!” He cried.
“You desvered that.” Louisa smiled a sly smile.
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
“Shut up!” Ryan yelled.
They stopped, but they kept glaring at each other.
When they were about to leave. Leon and Mark said somethings.
“Now, if you meet Morgan and Eon on the way. Don’t trust them completely. They haven’t shown up here. So we’re not sure if there on your side.” Mark said.
“And, try to stay out of forests. There are people that are working for Alec in there. So be careful if you go into one. Or just avoid them.” Leon said.
“Ok! Now can we go?” Louisa asked.
Leon sighed. “yes. Just stick with the plan.”
“Got it.” They said.
The plan was to get to Alec’s castle. Rescue Madison and come back. Alive. The only person who didn’t’ like the plan, was Marcie. She kept sniffling all the way their.
They came to a forest. Louisa pulled out the map that Mark had drawn for them. “There’s no way to by pass this thing.” She said.
“You sure?” Ryan asked. He looked over Louisa’s shoulder at the map.
“I am! Why wouldn’t I be?” Louisa snapped.
“Beccuase, your too dumb to be right.” Streak said.
Louisa rolled her eyes.
They entered the forest. And not long after, they heard something hustle in the bushes.
Marcie whimpered.
“Shhh.” Ryan said. Everyone stopped. “Who’s there?” he called.
Laughter echoed there the forest. Louisa couldn’t tell if it was on person laughing, or a group.
“This isn’t good.” Ryan said.
“Ya think?” Louisa asked.
“Shut up!” Streak hissed.
Ryan called again, this time no one laughed. There was no noise at all.
“It was probably just a bird or something.” Ryan said.
Louisa took a deep breath. “Yeah, probably.”
They turned back around and starting to walk again. Then, Ryan was hit to the ground.
“RYAN!” Louisa cried. Before she could go to him. She was knocked clean to the ground, faced down.
The groaned and tried to push herself up. But something landed on her. She fell back down. She felt her arms being pulled behind her.
“LET GO!” She screamed.
“Dude! I need some rope over here!” a male voice called.
“Duh! Or course!” another male voice said. “We all do!”
Louisa couldn’t see what was going on. But it wasn’t good. She used all her strenghth so turn over and face her attacker. She did the mistake of looking into the boy’s dark brown eyes. They flashed like knifes. And then Louisa felt those knifes slashing into her.
She screamed. And closed her eyes.
She couldn’t see that great, because her glasses had fallen off, but she was pretty sure, they weren’t being attacked by grown men. These were just boys their age.
“Stop!” she screamed as her attacker pulled her up. She still had her eyes closed tight.
“Hold still!” he snapped.
Louisa heard Marcie screaming and Streak cursing like crazy.
“Ryan!” she called. She didn’t want to open her eyes. But she had to, to see what was going on.
The boy in front of her had dark brown hair and brown eyes. Which, Louisa didn’t look into, she already knew what they looked like. She saw the other boys too. They all had brown hair and brown eyes. Which she found disturbing.
“Are you all like, one big family?” she snapped. Trying to struggle out of the boys grasp of her wrists. He was trying to tie rope on them.
“Just shut up, and hold still!” he snapped back.
When Louisa couldn’t possibly move anymore he got the ropes on. There was a little space between her hands, but not much. They were tied in front of her. Which she was glad about.
Then he turned her around and wrapped her arms around her waist and picked her up.
“LET GO!” She screamed again.
He did, but he was right smack into a tree. Louisa almost blacked out. She saw Ryan and Streak, they had their hands tied behind backs. And Marcie, who just gave in, shaking like crazy by one of the boys. Her brown eyes were full of fear.
Louisa tried to run, but the boy pushed her back against the tree.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT?!” She screamed.
“We want,” a boy said. He came through a couple of the other boys. “You. Becuase, the King wants you.”
Chapter 9
The boys hair was brown with some copper colored hairs too. And he was taller then the others. He was apperntly the leader, because everyone stepped out of the way when he came near them.
Even the boy who had Louisa. He came right up to her so close. Louisa started to sink down the trunk of the tree.
“Leave her alone!” Ryan yelled. One of the boys who held him hit him in the stomach.
“Don’t’ hurt him!” Louisa screamed. Running forward. The boy turned and she ran smack into him. He could be sixteen or seventeen. Louisa thought.
He grabbed the back of her head by her hair.
“Stop!” She screamed
“Leave. Her. Alone!” Ryan yelled. Again, they hit him in the stomach.
“Now, now. We must all behave. Then we might go easy on you.” He still had his grip on Louisa’s copper colored hair.
“Please! Let go!” Louisa said. She was trying not to cry. But it hurt.
He didn’t. He grabbed Louisa by her arm too and said. “The King wants you. So we are going to deliver him to you. I am Mizraim. Leader of the Knife Eyes.”
“Very apporate name.” Grumbled Streak.
Mizraim turned to him. And Streak did the horrible thing of looking into his eyes. He yelled in pain.
“Stop! Please!” Begged Louisa. She was cringing on the grip he had on her hair.
“Let’s move!” Commanded Mizraim.
The whole way they walked, Mizraim had his grip on Louisa’s hair. He just wouldn’t let go. One time, Louisa had hit him so hard in the leg that he had to let go, and she ran but she got caught and then he just grabbed her by her hair again.
“Please stop!” she cried. She didn’t think she could take it anymore.
He leaned down, and hissed into her ear. “I’m not going to.” And then his grip got tighter on her arm.
When they finalley stopped to camp. He practily threw her against a tree. And then, one of the boys tied a rope to the rope that was conneting the rope around her wrists. And he tied it to a tree root sticking out of the ground.
The other ‘war’ kids got the same treatment.
Marcie started to cry.
“Shut up, Marcie!” Streak hissed. “Your gonna get us into trouble!”
“I-I-I can’t!” Marcie sobbed.
“Gee, Streak. Have you no smpathany?” Louisa said. Rolling her eyes.
“Duh! Of course not!” Streak said. He leaned against the tree.
Ryan was trying hard not to hurl. They had hit him a lot in the stomach on the way there.
“You ok, Ryan?” Louisa asked.
He nodded. “yeah.” He croaked.
“How’s your head, Louisa?” Streak asked. “Not that you have a brain or anything. I was just wondering.”
“You care, and you know it.” Louisa said.
“I do not.”
“DO too!”
Mizraim had been listening to the childern’s ‘war’. And he had become interested. He walked over, and imdeletly, they stopped fighting. They looked anywhere but at his eyes.
“I didn’t quite catch your names.” He said.
“Like you really care.” Louisa said.
Mizraim’s knife eyes flashed. “What are your names?”
No one answered.
“I said, what are your names?” he said, a little annoyed.
“Fine. I’m Louisa, that’s Streak.” She pointed to Streak. “And that’s Ryan and that’s Marcie.” She pointed to them too.
No one said hi. They just sat.
Marcie was still crying. But Mizraim didn’t seem to notice.
“I see.” He said. He towered over them. “We are going to set up camp here. And in the moring, we will start again. I don’t want you trying to escape. DO you understand?”
Everyone nodded, except Ryan. Mizraim noticed this. He caught the smallest things. Just the big ones he didn’t catch.
“Do you, understand?” he asked, more harshly to Ryan.
Ryan didn’t’ answer.
“I think he gets it.” Louisa said.
Mizraim eyes flashed in her direction. They caught her for just a fraction of a second. She looked away.
“I really don’t like to repeat myself.” He said.
Ryan still didn’t responde.
Louisa kicked him in the leg. Ryan still didn’t look up.
Mizraim motioned to his troops. Two of them came and grabbed Ryan by his arms and pulled him up. And Louisa saw Ryan’s eyes. They were blue and they were glowing.
Chapter 10
Mizraim didn’t seem surprised. “The King said some of you had special powers. I see you have gotten a hold of yours.” Then he looked at Louisa. “And he also said that you were his daughter. I see the resemblance just fine, you look just like him.”
Louisa scoffed.
Then he looked at Streak. “And you, you look just like him too. SO you must be brother and sister.”
Louisa and Streak’s eyes got wide. “no!” They said.
“He’s just my half brother!” Louisa said.
“Yeah, same here. It’s ‘half’ sister.” Streak said.
“Really?” Mizraim asked. He raised a eyebrow.
Then he walked over to Louisa. She started to do that slide thing again.
Then, he cringed.
He turned to Ryan. His blue eyes were still glowing. “Don’t do that again.” He said.
“Do what?” Ryan asked.
“You know very well what.” Mizraim said. He walked up to Ryan again and they looked each other in the eye and then they both flew backwards.
“RYAN!” Louisa screamed. She tried to run to him, but the rope wouldn’t let her.
Mazraim’s troops had run to him. He had been thrown against a tree. And was trying to stand up.
“Hey, man. You alright?” one of his troops asked.
“I’m fine.” Mizraim. Smacked the troop’s hand away, and stood up.
Marcie, Streak and Louisa had been trying to untie their ropes so they could get to Ryan. But the troops had seen this and had grabbed them.
Ryan was trying to get to his feet. But Mazraim gave him some help, by yanking him up by his arm.
“Don’t hurt him!” Cried Louisa.
She had broken free of her troop and had tried to run to Ryan.
“Silence!” Mazraim yelled.
“Please! Don’t hurt him!” Louisa wailed. “We can’t control our powers! It wasn’t his fault!”
“Yeah, totally!” Streak said.
Mazraim glared at them. But they didn’t look away. He let go of Ryan. Ryan fell to the ground.
“I don’t any of you talking again! Understand?” he said.
They all nodded. Even Ryan who had had some help with being carried back to the tree.
Marcie cried herself to sleep.
Louisa and Ryan had tried to call Leon and Mark at least a hundred times but they weren’t answering.
“Ryan?” Louisa whispered.
“Yes?” Ryan croaked back.
“I’m scared.”
Ryan was shocked. Louisa was never scared, she never cried. At least, when she thought no one was there.
“Everyone thinks I’m tough. But I’m really not. Living with a mom who has people come over to yell at isn’t great. She’s usaelly angry afterward. So I have to be tough to like, to keep her happy.”
Ryan just nodded.
“And if you tell anyone I’ll kill you.” Louisa said.
Ryan quietly laughed.
They got a ‘clear throat’ from one of the troops.
And they laughed a little and then, went to sleep.
Chapter 11
Madison was freaking. Totally freaking.
“Do did what?!” she said to Alec.
She was sitting next to him in his throne room. And he had just told her that he had sent the Knife Eyes after the ‘war’ kids.
“Now, now, Madison. They’ll be fine.” Alec said.
“No! They won’t! Mizraim is mean Alec. You don’t know what he’ll do to them! They’re just kids!” Madison cried.
Alec turned to Madison is Red Lightning were eyes flashing. “I told him not to go too hard on them. As long as they behave they’ll be fine. And besides, Mizraim is still a kid himself, he’ll know when too much is too much.”
“But what if they don’t? ” Madison was trying hard not to cry. “And, Mizraim is hardly a kid anymore. Ever since you forced him to join your ‘cause’.”
“Madison…” his voice had a warning note in it.
“But.—“
Alec put up his hand. “Enough.”
Madison closed her mouth. And she sat back and crossed her arms. She was even angier than before at Alec now.
Be careful, Louisa. Madison thought. Be careful.
*
Louisa was shook awake that next morning.
“Get up!” one of the troops hissed.
Louisa freaked for a second, she didn’t where she was, but then, she rembered. And she fought back tears.
“I’m up!” she said. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. (or as much as you could with your hands tied.)
Then she was yanked to her feet. “Ow!” she cried. “I was getting there!”
“The leader wants to go.” The troop said.
Louisa saw, Marcie, Ryan and Streak all up. And she saw the troops packing up there sleeping bags and supplies. And Mizraim just standing there, watching them work.
“He doesn’t help much does he?” She whispered to Ryan.
Ryan shook his head. “No.” His English accent had gotten stronger in the past week. So it was kind of hard for Louisa to understand him.
Streak bumped into Louisa.
“Watch were your going!” Louisa hissed.
“Oops. I just couldn’t get out of the way. Your too fat.” Streak said.
Marcie could sense a ‘war’ coming on. She started to whimper.
“Excuse me?” Louisa said.
“What? It’s true!” Streak said. He shrugged.
“Streak, you’re an idiot!” Louisa cried. She couldn’t keep her voice down anymore.
Mizraim looked their way. They weren’t soupossed to be talking.
“I am not!” Streak yelled.
“Are too!”
Now, Mizraim came over.
“Silence!” he said.
They didn’t stop.
Mizraim’s eyes went into slits.
“Silence!”
They still didn’t stop.
He reached out and grabbed Louisa’s hair again and pulled her to his side.
“Stop!” she screamed.
“I told you no talking. And what did you do? Talk!” Mizraim yelled.
“She started it!” Streak said.
Ryan and Marcie’s eyes widened. They looked at Streak. Why didn’t Streak know not to talk back? They were in so much trouble now.
“please! Let go!” Louisa cried.
“I don’t care who fault it was! I said no talking.” Mizraim said.
They all nodded. For Louisa’s sake. Who looked like she was going to burst into tears any second.
Mizraim let go on Louisa’s hair and walked away.
This time, she couldn’t hold back the tears. One of them slid down her cheek. But she manged to keep the others away.
“Ow.” She moaned.
Marcie walked over, and stood on her tipy toes and rubbed the place where Mizraim had had his grip on. “Are you ok?” she asked.
Louisa took a shaky breath. “Yeah.”
Then Marcie was pulled back. They all were.
“Let’s walk!” Yelled Mizraim yelled.
Louisa was relived he wasn’t the one pulling her. One of the troops had Louisa but he was still tugging at the rope. Louisa stumbled at first. But then she got to walk normal.
They walked for at least two hours. Never breaking. Then Ryan said: “I’m going to throw up!”
Mizraim turned from his postion at the top of the group. “I said no talking!” Everyone had stopped walking to look at Ryan.
“I’m going to throw up!” Ryan said again. He bent over.
Louisa tried to run to him. But the keeper of her rope tugged her towards him. “Ryan! It’s your power just.—“ the troop who had her rope turned her towards him. She looked into his eyes. She screamed.
“I said no talking!” Mizraim said.
This time, Marcie said: “I-I’m going to throw up!” And she bent over.
Louisa didn’t know if they were faking it or what. Streak looked as confused as she did. She gave him the look saying: What do we do? He just shrugged then she gave him the look: Your hopeless.
So, she deicided to kick the troop that held her. He yelled out in pain. She used all her strength to summon her powers. And she got them. Her eyes turned red and started to glow. She shot lighnting at her ropes and they broke. Mizraim didn’t’ know what to do. He told her troops to get them. Streak had gotten his powers to work too.
Louisa ran to Ryan who had indeed, thrown up. And Marcie had too.
“You ok?” she asked.
Ryan nodded, still bent over. Then he threw up again. Then Louisa felt a hand on her arm and then an arm around her waist. And then she screamed in pain.
“I’m so glad the King gave me your weakness: Ice.” Mizraim said. He laughed, a cruel and hardning laugh.
Everything was going fuzzy. Louisa tried to stand up, but it hurt too much. She screamed again. She sat on the ground, clutching her stomach.
Ryan had gotten his powers to work too, and was taking down one troop after another. Then Louisa saw him jump over her and tackle Mizraim.
Louisa got to her feet. And saw Marcie fighting for her life against one of the troops. Streak was trying to attack five troops at once. And Ryan, who was loosing terribly against Mizraim. And used all her streaght she had left and let out a scream has a hole bunch of engery shot out on all diretions. It was like circle of engery. And then, she fell.
Chapter 12
Madison was calmly walking down the huge halls of Electrity’s castle. When...
“MADISON!” Alec yelled.
Madison was used to Alec’s out bursts. He got mad at such little things. Like Mark and Leon being jealous.
“I’m coming!” she called. She didn’t know what he wanted. But it could was probably something stupid to be angry about.
She got to the throne room, where Mizraim and the Knife Eyes were shaking before Electrirty.
She sat down in her throne. “What’s wrong?” she asked. “Where’s Louisa?”
Mizraim went to talk.
“SILENCE!” Alec bellowed. “They got away. Again.”
Madison nodded. But inside, she was overjoyed. “And how did this happen?”
Alec went to talk. But Mizraim got in first. “The girl’s…powers were too much for me and my troops.” He said.
Madison nodded again. “I see.” She was pushed down a smile.
“And I blame you.” Alec said.
Madison turned to him, startled. “Me? I haven’t even left this stupid castle in eight days! Eight, Alec!”
“But who else could of helped her?” Alec asked.
“God.” Madison said to herself.
“What was that?” Alec asked.
“Nothing.” Madison said. She turned back to the Knife Eyes. “Do you know where they went?”
Mizraim shook his head. “Hard to tell. Me and my men were all unconscious when they ran.”
“I want them found!” Alec said. Saying anything before Madison could. “And don’t…don’t go easy on them. They’ve caused enough trouble already. Do whatever it takes. Just make sure they’re alive when you bring them here.”
“Alec! No!.—“ Madison started.
“Silence, Madison. I am king here.”
“Well, I am queen. And I say that’s not right! They’re kids, Alec.”
Alec thought about this for a second. Then he said. “On second thought…”
Madison felt a surge of hope.
“Just bring me, Louisa and Streak. The other two I can do without.”
Madison’s hope faded. But she didn’t say anything. Alec wasn’t going to change his mind, no matter what she said.
Mizraim bowed. “Yes your highness.” And he walked out of the castle with his troops following.
Madison got up and stormed down the hall. Alec appeared in front of her, when she was almost to her room where she could lock the door and keep Alec out.
“What?” she asked.
Alec’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t want you to try anything funny. Got it?”
“Why should I listen to you?”
Alec sighed. “Because. Just because.” Then he disappeared and Madison went into her room slamming the door behind her.
Chapter 12
Louisa didn’t feel good. Not at all. She had used almost all her energy to create that….that…Louisa’s head started to hurt. She couldn’t think anymore.
She knew that Ryan, Streak and Marcie were fine. She knew that they were all save in a cave. At the moment anyway.
“Are you ok?” Marcie asked her.
Louisa was laying on the ground on something soft, she through her hands to her head. “no! Do I look ok?”
Marcie scooted back. “Sorry.”
“You look like you just wasted all your engry.” Streak said.
Louisa forced herself up. “Uh-huh, I did. To save you, stupid.” She leaned against the cave wall. Hand still on her head.
“Lay off her Streak. Without her, we would have been to see your dad.” Ryan said.
Louisa saw Streak shiver.
He must be that bad. Louisa thought.
“Have you guys tried to conact Leon and Mark?” Louisa asked.
Ryan shook his head. “Tried, but failed.”
“My dad said he would help us!” Marcie wailed.
“Shut up Marcie! I have enough of a headache already!” Louisa snapped.
“Sorry.” Whimpered Marcie.
“Now what do we do?” Streak asked.
“I don’t know.” Grumbled Louisa. Still gripping her head. Then she gripped her stomach. And she leaned to the side and threw up. “Oh, yuck!”
“Are you alirght?” Ryan asked.
Louisa nodded. “Yeah. I haven’t eaten that much and that looks green so I don’t have anything us to throw up, thankfully.”
She took a deep breath.
“We just need to go back to camp. This plan failed.” Ryan said.
“No! Just go without me. I’ll be fine.” Louisa said. Hand still on her head.
“Louisa, look at you. We can’t leave you behind. We need to go back to camp, where it’s safe.”
“But what about my mom?”
Ryan stared at her for a second. Then he looked away. “I don’t know.”
“We need to help Madison, Ryan.” Marcie said. He big brown eyes pleading.
Ryan sighed. “I know. But.—“
“Dude, seriously.” Streak said. He came up to Ryan. “We need to talk.”
Ryan stood up. Totally confused. “Uh…sure.” And they went to the entrance of the cave.
“Ok. Your being over protective and I know why.” Streak said.
“You don’t. I just want to do what’s best for the team.—“
“Team? We’re more like: ‘I’m going to kill you’! Kinda group. And you like Louisa, it’s so obvouis.”
“I do not!” Ryan cried.
“Do too.”
Ryan threw his hands in the air. “Now I see why Louisa hates you.”
Streak shrugged. “Whatever. But don’t’ worry. Your secrets safe with me.” And he walked back over to the girls.
Ryan stood there, staring after him.
I do not like Louisa! He said to himself. I don’t! There’s no reason to like her. She’s mean and annoying and…
“Ryan! Stop mumbling!” Louisa yelled.
Yup, defiantly annoying. Ryan thought.
When Ryan went back to talk to the rest of the ‘war’ kids. Louisa spoke first:
“I’m going, and you can’t stop me.”
Ryan shrugged. “Fine.” And he went back out the cave entrance.
That night, Louisa asked Ryan why Mizraim and him flew back with they looked each other in the eye.
“I guess it was both our powers pushed against each other. I’m not really sure.” Ryan answered.
The firelight bounced off Louisa’s glasses. (which one of the troops gave back to her later on) “You know. I’m the most powerful person here.”
Ryan nodded. “You are. Your mom can use Red Lightning and so can your dad. You can also Abzorb other powers too.”
Louisa looked at him. “Yeah. I guess I’m a great target huh?”
Ryan smiled a weak smile. “Yeah.”
Louisa yawned then and laid down and almost instantly, went to sleep.
Ryan stayed up a bit longer. Being at war with yourself wasn’t any fun. But he went to sleep an hour later.
In the morning, they set out again. Louisa felt fine, just a slight headache. But she still felt weak.
At least a hundred times, Ryan had asked her if she was doing alright, or if she had to sit down.
And everytime, Streak would laugh.
“Are you sure your alirght?” Ryan asked again, for the hundredth and one time.
“I’m fine! Now shut up!” Louisa said. She spun around to face him.
“Sorry! I was just wondering!” Ryan snapped.
“Well, stop wondering! You’ve been ‘wondering’ for an hour now.” And Louisa spun back around, smacking Ryan with her strawberry blonde hair.
Streak burst into hysterical laughter.
And for the rest of the time. No one spoke.
Then a terrible, awful and horrible noise broke the silence.
Laughter.
Not Streak’s laughter. The Knife Eye’s laughter.
Ryan grabbed Louisa’s hand, and ran one way. Streak had to grab the so-scared-still Marcie and drag her another way.
Louisa’s jean jacket flapped on her back as Ryan dragged her as far away as possible from the laughter. Which still echoed threw the forest.
“I am completely…TERRIFIED!” Louisa yelled.
“Shut!” Ryan hissed.
They ran as far as they could. And Ryan pushed her behind a tree. Clamping his hand over her mouth.
She let him, she was going to scream any second anyway.
“If we just sit and be quiet, maybe they won’t find us.” Ryan whispered.
Louisa just nodded. If she would of taken his hand off her mouth she would of screamed.
Then the laughter stopped. And a little while later, they heard talking and misates slashing threw the bushes and branches.
Louisa started to shake. Ryan gripped her arm. He took his hand off her mouth. Luckily, she didn’t scream.
“We have to move.” Ryan hissed.
“Agreed.” Louisa whispered.
Ryan grabbed her hand again and they ran through the forest, as silently as possible. Then they came to a large wall of rock.
“Shoot!” Ryan hissed. “Dead end.”
“We’re so dead.” Louisa said. She was shaking harder now. The voices and slashing came closer.
Ryan moved back into the wall. Pushing Louisa behind him. He was detirmed to protect her.
“There you are! We’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Mizraim came out of the brush a evil grin on his face and a sword in his hand.
Chapter 13
Louisa’s eyes got big. And Ryan was walking back into the rock wall and she was getting smashed. But she didn’t care. Mizraim was worse than being smashed.
“All we want now is the girl and her brother. And we’ll leave.” Mizraim said.
“Half brother.” Louisa said.
Ryan shook his head. “No one is coming with you.” He said something before Mizraim could slash out at Louisa.
“I have orders from the King to take any means nesersay to get you.” A sly smile crept on to his face. “Even if that means removing you, Ryan.”
Now Ryan was shaking.
“Ryan, we are so dead.” Louisa whispered.
Ryan didn’t answer, he already knew.
Then, there was a clicking noise. But only Louisa heard it because more troops came out of the trees creating more noise.
Then a door slid open behind Louisa and Ryan they fell in.
“AHHH!” They screamed.
Luckily, the fall wasn’t too far. They looked up. There was now a hole in the rock wall. And there were stairs leading up to it. And a wind whistled through the cave, creating a draft.
Louisa looked behind at the dark tunnel leading who knows where.
“W-w-where’s Mizraim?” Louisa asked. Still shaking. She felt sick and weak.
“I don’t.—“ Ryan started, then, as if in answer, he screamed out in pain.
“RYAN!” Louisa screamed. She ran over to him. On her knees. He was bleeding in his side a large cut. And the arrow at made it, was right next to Ryan. “RYAN!” She screamed again. He was unconscious. Then, Louisa felt arms around her waist, they were cold. The arms had ice on them. And that didn’t make Louisa feel any better. She was lucky she had thrown everything up already, because she would of.
She schreeched and kicked as one of the troops carried her back up the steps. “RYAN!” She screamed.
The boy dropped her on the grass outside the strange rock room. She landed on her knees. She felt her arms being pulled behind her and rope tying them together. Then both her arms were pulled upwards making her cry out in pain. She stood up uneasily. She looked down at the ground, hair dropping around her face, shielding it from the eyes that wanted to slice at her.
“Now, now. Don’t cry, Louisa.” Mizraim said. Then his voice went back to mean and dark. “Where’s Streak?” he asked.
“I-I don’t know.” Louisa said. She was still looking down at the ground.
Then someone grabbed the back of her head by her hair forcing it to look up.
“You will face the Leader when talking.” The troop snapped.
Now Louisa was forced to look at Mizraim. His copper brown hair gleaming in the sunlight.
“I’m only going to ask one more time.” He said. “Where’s Streak?”
“I said I don’t know!” Louisa yelled.
The grip on her hair got tighter.
“Alright then. I guess one more time will do.” Mizraim said. He paced back in forth. “Where’s Streak?”
“I don’t know!”
Mizraim stopped pacing. And he grabbed a pole with leather on the end and hit Louisa with it on the face.
She screamed and she fell to the ground.
Where he had hit her, it burned like crazy. There was a rectangleler mark on her right cheek. Now she felt even weaker then before. She could barely look up.
“That’s what happens when you don’t obey.” Mizraim said.
“I honestly don’t know.” Louisa hissed. She was yanked back up again. This time she looked at Mizraim without being pulled by her hair. “And I never lie.”
Mizraim’s eyes narrowed.
“Well, I don’t!” Louisa yelled at him.
He hit her again. And in the same place.
She looked down at the ground. A tear crickled down her cheek. Burning the mark.
“Come. We camp here. And the tomorrow, we go to the castle.” Mizraim said.
Louisa had to be pushed to get her to move.
“RYAN!” She screamed.
“He’ll be fine.” Mizraim said. smiling his evil smile. “For now.”
“You-you….” Louisa said. But before she could say anything else. They forced a gag in her mouth. Her sides of her mouth stung.
They threw her against a tree. And laughed. Actullay laughed.
But all Louisa think about was Ryan. She was so close to him, and she couldn’t help him. She glared at Mizraim who was sitting around the fire they had just made and he was drinking something and laughing.
If my dad was nice, he wouldn’t have sent them after me and Streak. Louisa thought. Tears streamed down her face. She looked down at the ground, trying to switchate her legs in Indain Style. The tears slapped her legs. Soaking her jeans. My dad is evil. That’s why Streak was afraid of him. And now I believe him.
Chapter 14
Streak and Marcie were running, as fast as they could.
“But what about Ryan and Louisa?” Cried Marcie.
“Do you want to get hurt?” Streak snapped.
Marcie started to cry. “No!” she sobbed.
They stooped running. Streak turned to face her. “Then we can’t go back. How hard is this for you to understand? Your so stupid Marcie!”
“Am not!” Marcie sobbed.
Streak sighed, and sat down leaning against a nearby tree. “We just have to wait I guess. I really don’t know what to do.”
Marcie stood there. Then she clenched her fists. “I’m going back for them.” And with that, she turned on her heel and stormed back the way they came.
Streak grumbled and got up and followed her.
*
It had become night and Louisa could barely see in front of her. She couldn’t sleep. Being gagged and tied wasn’t a great state to sleep in. She heard the soft breathing of the troops. And saw the faint glow of the leftover ashes of the fire.
Before they had gone to sleep. They had tied Louisa’s ankles together. So she couldn’t even sit cross legged. She had cried all her tears. She was hungry and thirsty. But they had never asked her if she wanted any food or water. They had just looked at her and laughed.
Louisa had had boys and girls laugh at her before. At school, she had had no friends. And no one wanted to be her friend. SO they laughed instead.
But this kind of laughter was crueler. They were laughing at her as if she was some kind of poor creature that couldn’t’ help herself.
But that’s how Louisa felt, like a poor creature.
So finalley fell asleep after awhile. But she had nightmares. Terrible nightmares.
Then, she was shaken awake. Not harshly, like before, but like how your mom shook you to get up in the morning to get up for school.
She opened her eyes and met contact with brown knife ones. She cried out, but it sounded muffled, because she was gagged.
“Shhh!” The boy hissed. He looked back at the sleeping group behind him. They sun was barely up in the sky. Louisa was surprised that Mizraim hadn’t made them get up like at sun rise.
“I’m not going to hurt you.” The boy said. He had a cup of water in one hand and a knife in the other.
Louisa just started to scoot further up the tree.
He grabbed her arm. She yelped. “Are you thirsty? Because that’s all I came over here for.”
Louisa nodded.
The boy took the knife and cut the gag off. Idmentely, Louisa started to cough and gag. The boys hand flew to her mouth. “Shut it!” he hissed.
“Sorry, gosh. I just needed to cough.” Louisa hissed back.
Apperntly the boy didn’t like to talked to that way, because his eyes narrowed. But he didn’t say anything.
He held out the cup and Louisa drank the whole thing.
“Thanks.” She said. “Oh wait, I’m not thankful.”
“You know, I liked when the gag was on.” The boy said. “By the way. My name is Jim.”
“I’m not going to say hi you know.” Louisa said.
Jim just rolled his eyes. Then his eyes narrowed and looked right into Louisa’s green ones. Louisa cringed, but didn’t say anything.
“And if you say anything about me giving you water. Your going to regret it.”
“Sure. Whatever.”
“It’s not a ‘whatever’ if you do. Your really going to regret it.”
“But if I lie, then…” but she didn’t finished, she didn’t want to think about what Mizraim would do to her if she lied. Or if he plain didn’t belive her. Then her eyes narrowed. “But what’s so bad about giving me water?”
“I wasn’t soupossed to. The Leader said you deserved that having any water.” Jim said.
“He’s kind, isn’t he?” she mocked.
The grip on he had on her arm tighnted. “Don’t talk about the Leader that way.”
“But he isn’t kind! And you acutlly laughed at me! Laughed!” Tears were brimming in her eyes.
Jim smiled a evil smile. “Well, that’s just life for ya.”
Louisa looked away, she didn’t want him to see her cry.
“Now, before I go back to bed, I have to put this back on. Or the Leader will ask.” He held up the gag.
“No! I don’t want that back on!” Louisa cried. The grip on her arm got even tighter.
“Fine, but don’t blame me if the Leader hits you.” Jim stood up. “And rember…don’t tell on me.” And he went back to sleep.
.
Louisa knew he was right, but she really didn’t want the gag in. She didn’t think she could bare it on any longer. She would just have to wait until tomorrow to find out what Mizraim would do.
In the morning, two of the troops came and cut her ankles and hands free. Then to wake her up, one of them kicked her in the stomach.
She cried out, one hand flew to her stomach and the other to her mouth.
The one troop yanked her to her feet. He grabbed her wrists and held on to them, so she couldn’t do anything with her arms.
Then the other one took one look at Louisa’s mouth and then the gag on the ground and cried: “Sir! Someone took her gag off last night!”
Mizraim looked over to where he was watching the other troops pack up camp. “Is that so…” he said. Then he barked for everyone to stop what they were doing. You see, he’s probably the only villain guy to ever damnd who took the gag off. Like I said before, he only notices the small things.
“Alright, we have things to do. But I want to know, who took the gag off?” he pointed to the wide eyed Louisa. Her eyes fell on Jim, who was staring off into space.
The idiot! He probably won’t even admit it. And then I’ll get hit. Or maybe, if I tell the truth. Louisa thought. No! No one will belive me anyway.
No one had taken responibily for the gag taking off. So Mizraim marched over to Louisa. “Who took it off?” he asked.
Louisa pressed her lips to together and shook her head. She saw Jim’s knife eyes staring at her. They were narrowed into slits.
Now Mizraim’s eyes narrowed. “Louisa, tell me.”
Again she shook her head.
“Louisa, if you don’t tell me.—“
“Why do you care anyway?” Louisa snapped. “It’s just a gag! Just put another one on for pete’s sake!”
Mizraim hit her again with the pole with the leather on it. “Don’t talk to me like that!” he snapped.
This time, the leather had made more than a mark it started to bleed.
Louisa looked up at Mizraim. “Don’t hit me again!” she yelled.
Mizraim grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her towards him. “I can do what I like. Your father gave me permission. Now, you are going to lead me to Streak. Understood?”
Louisa was leaning into him. She nodded. But she really wanted to punch him. He grabbed her by the arm and told everyone to finish packing. Louisa rubbed her bleeding cheek. Then she felt something cold on it. She took a step back. But someone pulled her back.
“Shhh. Here.” Jim pressed the cloth on her cheek. Louisa hadn’t noticed, but Mizraim had let go of her and Jim had had control of her. “Hold it there.” Jim said. Louisa pushed the cloth on her cheek as Jim let go of it. “Thanks for not telling.” Jim said.
Louisa tried to pull away from him, but he had a tight grip. “Yeah sure. You were right, he did hit me. But I’m still blaming you. He probably wouldn’t of hit you, if you told him you did it.”
“Don’t be so sure,” Jim said. He held out his arm. The other one still on Louisa’s arm. He pulled back the sleeve and there was a foot scar running down his arm. “This is from when I said some things to the Leader then he didn’t like. He ran the sword down right my arm.”
“Ow! Geez, he’s got issues.” Then her hand flew to her mouth. She looked to where Mizraim was standing, he didn’t seem to have heard her.
Jim leaned in. “Don’t worry, I won’t say anything.” Then he reached into his bag and pulled out some medical tape.
“Wow, I didn’t know they had tape in this world. Or…where ever I am.” No one had acutlly told the ‘war’ kids where they were. Then Jim told her to hold the cloth on while he taped it on.
“Thanks.” She said when he was done.
“No problem.” Jim shrugged.
Then Mizraim barked for everyone to start walking. Louisa knew he would damnand her to lead them to Streak. She couldn’t even really rember where they separted. How was she soupossed to lead them to Streak? Even if she lead them a totally different way, Mizraim would hit her. She knew she would have a scar on her cheek. And she didn’t want one somewhere else.
Please Lord, Louisa prayed in her mind. As Jim dragged her along. I need you to help me get through this. I can’t do it by myself.
Chapter 14
Ryan didn’t feel well. He didn’t know where he was. He had at least thrown up a dozen times. He didn’t know where Louisa had gone. He didn’t know where Streak and Marcie were. He was in a tent. And he heard voices, but he didn’t know who’s they were.
“His breathing is labored.” Someone said.
“Get the mask!” Someone yelled.
Then, Ryan saw people in black outfits. And they had one of those medical masks they have in hospitals. He put out his hands to stop them. But they pushed his hands back down. He opened his mouth to talk, but he couldn’t. He could barely breath. They put the mask on. And they tied his hands and legs down.
“Just lie still. It’s going to be alright.” A women said.
Ryan wanted to tell them that Louisa might not be alright. But everything started to get dark and then. Complete utter darkness.
*
Marcie and Streak didn’t know where they were. It was in the middle of the day and it was getting hot.
“Marcie! Your so stupid!” Streak cried. He threw his hands in the air.
“Am not!” Marcie cried back. “Your stupid for not shutting up! What if they find us?” she started to do her whimpering thing.
“SO what? At least we’ll know where we’re going!” Streak yelled.
“Shut it!” Marcie hissed. “I hear voices.” Her voice dropped to below even a whisper.
Then someone jumped out of the bushes. Marcie screamed and used her Royal Black powers to hold the person in mid air.
“Chill! We’re hear to help!” the person said. He was all in black with a black hood on.
Marcie lost her constraction and dropped him, but he fell on his feet. He was smiling.
“Come with me.” He said. He made a guesture with his hand as if telling them again to come. They followed. Because they felt like they should.
*
Louisa was still being dragged along by Jim. He had his hand around her wrist.
No matter how nice he seemed to be, he had a tight grip.
“Your turning my hand purple!” he hissed to him.
He looked down at her. “It’s not that tight.” And then he looked back up again.
“Your not the one with a hand on your wrist.” She whispered to herself.
When they came to a clearing with trees around it. Louisa’s heart sunk. They had passed this clearing only thrity mintues ago. She had told them which way to go. She hoped after awhile they would get so lost, that they would either find help or Mizraim would make them stop and rest, so Louisa could think of an other plan.
She started to inch behind Jim.
“Lousia!” Mizraim yelled.
I’m doomed. So doomed. Louisa thought. “Y-yes?” she manged to spit out.
“You’ve been trying to trick me!” Mizraim was almost to her. She could already feel his eyes slashing into her.
Surprisly Jim didn’t yank Louisa in front of him, he let Louisa sneak behind him. “I don’t see why it’s her fault, we’re going in circles, sir.” He said.
Louisa gaped behind Jim. Did he really just say that? She thought.
“Excuse me?” Mizraim said.
“Maybe she really doesn’t know where to find Streak. Like she said, they split up when they ran.” Jim replied suprislingly calm.
“I don’t care! She’s going to show us where he is! Move aside!”
Jim shook his head. “No.”
So Mizraim pushed Jim out of the way. Louisa took a step back. “I-I-I really don’t know where they are.” She stammered.
He reached to grab her when a click of a gun was heard. “Don’t take another step.” Someone said.
A boy about Mizraim’s age was holding a gun you only see in cowboy movies. He was wearing black all over and a mask. Other boys and girls stepped out of the bushes around the clearing, holding guns too.
Mizraim took a step back. “I have orders from the King to.—“
“I don’t care if they are from the ‘king’ she’s coming with us.” The boy said.
Louisa was going to faint. More people who want me? She thought. I’m too popular. And it’s not good.
“The King is surpreme ruler of all of this.” Mizraim waved his hand about like he was showing them a new house for sale. “So his word goes.”
“Well,” the boy took a step forward. The others did too. Guns still pointed at all the Knife Eyes. Except Jim.
Mizraim took a step and went to grab Louisa by her hair. Then the boy shot a bullet at his feet.
“I said not another step!”
Louisa saw the other people start to look at her, then shot there eyes upwards. They did it multiple times until Louisa looked up. And there was a ship hovering over the tree tops and a girl, in the same outfits as the others, coming down on a rope.
Louisa pointed upwards and mouthed: Me?
They all nodded. Louisa looked at Jim who was smiling his crooked smile.
Then she knew, Jim wasn’t a true Knife Eye.
When the girl on the rope came down enough for Louisa to climb on. Louisa jumped and the girl wrapped her arm around her waist and Louisa put an arm around the girls neck.
When they were almost to the ship. One of the Knife Eyes yelled: “Sir! The girl is getting away!”
Mizraim was too busy talking to the boy to see Louisa go. He yelled out loud and then told the Knife Eyes to draw their weapons. And a full fludge battle broke out.
A real war. Louisa thought. Still clinging to the girl. Not a fake one we do. Then not for awhile, she thought about Ryan and Marcie. I hope their alright. She thought.
When they got to the ship some other people in the ship helped her on board. They set her down on the ground, because the only seats there were, were where the pilot and co pilot sat.
“Just stay right there.” One of them said.
“Fine.” Louisa crossed her arms. Her spunk had come back.
Someone shouted down out of the door, Louisa didn’t quite catch. It sounded like someone was asking if they should wait. Apperently not, because the ship started and Louisa was thrown against the wall.
“Gosh! Any seat belts?” she yelled.
No one heard her. Or they were just ignoring her.
She was starting to freak out. What if they were mean? She touched her sore cheek, and winced. And they could do something more to her then hit her.
After being thrown around for about thirty mintues they landed. And the girl who had carried her up the rope. Helped her up. “Don’t worry, my mom will explain everything.”
“Good, because I don’t know what’s going on.” Louisa said. She rubbed her head.
The girl looked at her sore cheek for a second.
“Rude!” Louisa said.
The girl shrugged. “Whatever.” And lightly pulled Louisa to a huge temple like building. It was made of sandstone with pillers. A blue sky was above it with some white clouds. Louisa hadn’t seen the sky in so long. The forest was really dense.
When they got inside. Louisa gasped. There were more people in black with black masks.
“Who are you people?” Louisa asked. Suddenly really freaked.
“These people,” a women said behind them. “Are the justice league of this world.”
Chapter 15
The girl and Louisa turned around (well, the girl did, Louisa whirled around) The women had blue hair, and blue eyes. She was wearing a black outfit, all the way down to the boots. She had a gun in her holster.
“Anneabell Longacre.” The women held out her hand to Louisa. Louisa didn’t shake it.
“Ok then.” Anneabell took back her hand. “Like I said before, we are kind of like the justice league. You’ve seen that.—“
“I have.” Louisa said.
Again Annebell said: ok then. “We really are called the Claws of Justice though.”
Louisa knew that name. But she didn’t know where she heard it.
“And all of this,” Anneabell waved her hand around the building. “If C.O.J.H. a.k. Claws of Justice Headquarters. We preserve justice in this world.”
“Which would be….?” Louisa asked.
“This world has no name.” the girl said. She hadn’t said anything up until now. “We just call it a ‘world’.”
“Thank you Emily for your helpful comment.” Anneabell said.
“Sure mom, anytime.” And Emily skipped off.
“mom?” Louisa said.
Anneabell shrugged. “Yep. But you can’t really tell.” Then her face became dark. “Louisa, are you alright?”
Louisa shrugged. “I guess. I might have a concussion from the ride here.”
Anneabell touched Louisa’s sore cheek. “Does is hurt?”
“A little.”
“My medical skills have enproved, if I do say so myself.” A boy said.
Louisa whirled around and there was Jim.
“Josiah! you did an exclett job.” Anneabell exclaimed.
“What?” Louisa asked. “I thought it was Jim.”
“That was my cover name.” Jim now Josiah said.
“Oh.” Louisa nodded.
“Mom, you look fine. It’s been weeks!” Josiah said.
“Mom? No wait, nevermind.” Louisa said.
Then there was a loud crash.
“Oh my gosh!” Anneabell exclained. Louisa loved the way she talked. She talked to the kids like she was one.
“Streak and Marcie aren’t behaving.” Josiah said.
“Marcie? Streak?” Louisa ran off in the direction before they could stop her.
The room was in chaos.
“Get off me!” Marcie screamed.
“Just chill. We’re here to help.” Someone said.
Louisa got threw the crowd of people to find a sitting table with a docter trying to hold down Marcie who was screaming.
“MARICE!” Louisa screamed.
Marcie turned her neck. “LOUISA!” And she kicked the doctor off her and ran and gave Louisa a hug.
Louisa grabbed Marcie’s arms and held her out arms length. “I thought I’d never see you again!” she cried.
“Me either!” Marcie said. She was now crying.
“Marcie, you need to get back on that table. We need to do a thero scan on you, to make sure your not hurt.” Anneabell had gotten into the room.
“But I don’t want to! I hate check ups!”
“But you need to, so you can chill with us.” Anneabell said.
Marcie nodded and went back up on the table. Then from a different door red light flashed.
“Your half brother isn’t listening either. He keeps rambling on about how we need to find you.” Anneabell said.
“Why didn’t you tell him you we’re going to get me?” Louisa asked.
“Because, we weren’t sure we were going to get to you in time. By what my concleages tell me, Mizraim was going for something.”
“He said my dad gave him permission to do any thing to me.”
“Your dad,” Anneabell put her hands on Louisa’s shoulders. “Is not a good person, Louisa. That’s why we’re here too. To spread the word about Jesus.”
Louisa pushed Anneabell’s hands off her. “I prayed to Jesus. But it didn’t work.”
“He loves you, ya know. Don’t forget that.”
Louisa didn’t stay for the rest, she went straight to the room and flew the door open. “Streak! Don’t acting like an idiot!”
Streak looked at her. He was on a table and four people were holding down his hands and feet. He tried to get up. But they pushed him back down. And put a mask on his face.
“Streak, just chill. I’m here. So no need to freak.” Louisa snapped. Then she turned to the doctor. “What’s wrong with him?”
“Nothing we can see. But we want to make sure. So we’re giving him a thero scan.” The doctor answered. He wrote something on his clip board. “He’s been throwing up a lot, and we don’t know why.”
“We have powers, and we can’t control them and sometimes they get out and sometimes they can’t, so we throw up.” Louisa said.
“Ah! So that’s the reason. Then we won’t have to do a scan.” He waved a hand to one of the men holding Streak down. He nodded. But didn’t let go.
“Now we’re going to fix his problem. We have scientests who know how to make you guys stop throwing up.” He nodded again at the man.
The man, with one hand on Streaks leg turned on a switch and straps came down on Streak’s hands and feet.
“Don’t hurt him!” Louisa cried.
“We’re not.” The doctor said. “Now go back out. The Commander wants to show you something. Your someone.”
Louisa’s first thought, as she walked out the door and into the room where Marcie was getting the same treatment was that Ryan was here.
She ran to Anneabell and asked her. Anneabell’s face went from dark to white. “He’s not doing well, Lou. But I’ll take you to him.”
They went threw long hall ways and rooms. And then a signs started to appear about doors: Critacal Contison.
“He’s not…” Louisa said.
Anneabell nodded.
Louisa didn’t say anything else. Anneabell led the way and unlocked a door and opened it for Louisa.
Louisa’s heart sank.
There were beeping noises coming the breathing machine and other things that Louisa didn’t know the names to. Ryan was strapped down too and a mask on his face. He looked frail and weak.
“Ryan?” Louisa went up to the bed.
Ryan looked at her, but he didn’t seem to see her. “Your…alright…” he said.
“Y-y-yes, I’m here now it’s ok. How are you?” she asked.
“I-I—don’t feel good.” Ryan said.
Louisa felt like crying. She should of made Mizraim help Ryan. He was now dying, and it was Mizraim’s fault.
She turned to Anneabell. “When can we go to the castle? I have a favor to repay.”
Chapter 16
For the next three weeks. Louisa, Streak, Marcie, Emily, Josiha and Anneabell trained for the grand rescue of Madison. Only, Louisa didn’t tell them that she wanted revenge.
They had tried to contact camp. But there was no reply.
Ryan just kept getting worse and worse. He kept saying things like: I want my dad and Louisa, we need to help her. Even though, Louisa would visit him everyday. Anneabell told her that it was no use. Ryan was so sick he couldn’t think right.
Louisa would cry every night. And sometimes during the day.
After Streak and Marcie got there scans and everything seemed to be in check. They got certain medicence to help there powers. Louisa got it too. They had a box of medience taped to there arm, just below the shoulder, and a skinny tube running down to the top of there hand where the needle went in.
Streak complained that it itched, like every second.
The doctor had told them that the medicine wasn’t going to fix their powers completely, they needed to keep there blood presser down and needed to stay healthy, which meant no junk food. Which Streak wasn’t happy about either.
“This sucks! I haven’t had anything good in weeks!” Streak cried.
“Get over it. And stop itching! Your going to hurt yourself!” Louisa snapped. She had her hair up in a pony tail and it swaied while she walked. Her cheek had healed to the point of a scare, which Joesiha had told her that it would be there for like, forever, unless she wanted plastic surgery.
Louisa had said no, to that.
She was flipping threw the clip board of things about the plan, when she came to the page about totally going to do something horrible to her dad and Mizraim when she felt someone looking over her shoulder, she jumped and the clip board fell.
Streak snatched it up. “I thought you were going to save your mom, stupid?” he asked.
“I am!” Louisa tried to grab the clip board from him, but Streak was way taller then her, he didn’t even need to hold his arm up all the way.
“You were lying this whole time?” he snapped.
“I wasn’t! I want to rescue my mom too!”
There was a warning beep, from her box. It was telling her that her blood pressure was going up.
“Please, Streak! Give it back!” she cried.
“Why should I? This is perfect evdenice that you were lying!” Streak said. She went to step away, when Louisa tackeled him to the ground. “GIVE IT BACK!” She screamed.
“NO!” He screamed back. “GET OFF ME!”
He grabbed her by the arm. “DON’T TOUCH ME!” she screamed.
All this comosion had caught Joisha’s attension. “Guys! Chill!” He ran up to them.
The warning beeps were like tornado sirens. Josiha grabbed Louisa by her arms and pulled her up. “Breathe!” He commanded. She did but it was hard.
“Streak! Chill!” he said.
Streak got up glaring at Louisa, still clutching the clip board.
“Now, what happened?” his voice was so calm, it made Lousia want to cry.
“He took my clip board!”
“She tackled me!”
Josiha held up his hands. “Ok, ok. Do I need to bring my mom into this?”
The shook there heads. And both said: Whatever at the same exact time. Lookinng every direction except at each other and Joshia.
“Ok, you guys need to just forgive each other and move on. Ok?” Josiha said.
They nodded, but didn’t say anthing has they walked away. In oppestite directons.
“I wish Josiah didn’t act so much older!” Louisa told Marcie a couple days later.
“Well he is. He’s fifteen.” Marcie said, rolling her eyes. She didn’t whimper as much anymore, like she used too.
“Still.” Louisa said, crossing her arms.
“Still what?” Marcie said.
“Oh nevermind! You just don’t understand!” And Louisa marched off to see Ryan. Ryan could talk and understand things, but once Louisa left, he totally forgot about what they just talked about, or that if Louisa was even there.
“Ryan, I don’t know what to do. Streak knows I want revenge and now I’m mad at Joisah, because he acts likes he’s my dad or something.” She narrowed her eyes. “And I don’t want one. I’ve had enough exprince with my dad, and I haven’t even met him yet.”
“Hey, my….dad…is ok…sometimes…Josiah is just…trying to…help…” Ryan answered. His voice cracked when he talked. And his voice sounded funny because of the breathing mask on.
“I know. But I’m used to being the oldest.”
“Sometimes…you got…to just…go with it….you can’t always…be in charge…” and with that, Ryan went to sleep.
The next couple of days went slow sometimes and sometimes fast. When ever Streak or Josiah came near she ran. She didn’t want to actdenttly yell at Joisha or something. And she didn’t’ want to make any deals with Streak about the information. He had…aquired.
On the day of the mission. Louisa felt sick.
“Your just nervous.” The doctor said. “I just checked your medicine. Your fine. But don’t run too hard.”
Louisa nodded. But she still felt sick. She hadn’t eaten anything for days. But she didn’t tell the doctor that, if she did, he’d make her eat. And she didn’t feel like eating.
The plan was that: Louisa, Marcie and Emily would sneak in to the castle. And give the ‘ok’ sign for Anneabell, Streak and Joshia to come in. From there, they’d split into even groups of two and search the castle for Madison and Alec. If one group found Alec, they found idmenttly call the other groups to help. If they found Madison, they would just call the groups to abandon the mission and save Madison. They didn’t’ want to risk a fight with Alec.
So when they got to the castle. Louisa was sure she’d throw up.
“Hey, you ok, Lou?” Joisha asked.
“Yeah.” Louisa lied.
Josiah wasn’t convince though. “just tell me the truth, are you ok?”
“I’m fine!” she snapped. Then she went over to her group. Louisa was nervous. Her plan was to sneak away from her group and find Alec or Mizraim, she didn’t’ care who. Someone had to pay.
Joshia spoke into her watch. “Mom, Louisa is going to try something. I can tell.”
Anneabell replied: “It’ll be fine. I have listening deivces and tracking decives on her. We’ll know if she does anything that’s not in the plan.”
When Louisa’s group entered the castle, Louisa snuck away. She couldn’t run, because then her box would start beeping like crazy. And that would so give her away.
She turned a corner and stood there, leaning against the wall, she wanted to make sure no one knew she had gone so that she could just walk up to them if they did notice.
She walked up the halls, when she heard voices, she rushed into a closet, and the voices got closer and closer, but she didn’t reczinge them. When the voices had passed the closet, she went to go back out, when she heard voices she did reconizge on the other side of the wall. She leaned in and listened.
“I’m sorry, but your daughter and son were too much for me and my troops.” Mizraim said.
“What? What happened?” Louisa knew the voice from when Alec came over.
“The Claws of Justice.—“
“And you coundn’t handle them?” Alec roared.
“No! I couldn’t.” Mizraim’s voice sounded scared.
Serves him right. Thought Louisa.
There was silence, Louisa was worried that they’d left the room, when Alec said:
“They’ll come to us soon, Louisa can’t stay away long, with Madison here.”
“Your right. We.—“
Then Louisa heard a noise that something breaking then the wall broke in half and she fell smack into the floor.
There was dust everywhere. She shook her head, still looking that the ground. “I hope no one heard that…” she looked up and there was Mizraim’s eyes slicing into her, and Alec’s electitsy for eyes sparking at her.
“Oh, someone did hear.” He said.
Chapter 17
Before Louisa could react, Mizraim had her on her feet.
“You were right, my lord. They couldn’t stay away long.” He said.
Alec just nodded, his eyes were on Louisa.
“What do you want me to do with her?” Mizraim asked. He had both hands on her arm and he was shifting back and forth on his feet. Like he was waiting to do something gruesome to her or something.
“Leave us.” Alec just said.
“But.—“
“Leave!”
Mizraim let go and went to the door. Louisa deiced she’s rather not face her dad. So she started to back up into the hole she had created, but then she bumped into something. He grabbed her arms and said into her ear. “How about you sit down and we talk for awhile, darling?” Alec said. Louisa’s eyes got large. She shook her head. “Don’t call me that.” She hissed.
“My, you are like your mother.” Alec said. She pushed her to a chair in the small stone room and shoved her into it.
“Sit.” He said.
“What if I don’t want to?” She asked, starting to stand back up.
Alec just looked at her.
She sat back down. Madison had given looks like that, and they meant: ‘sit down or your going to get it’.
“Now,” Alec started to pace back forth. “Where should we start? How long has it been? A month?”
“Ten years.”
“Oh yes! Ten, my, time flies. And you’ve grown too!” He didn’t even stop to look at her.
Louisa rolled her eyes and crossed her legs and arms. “What ever. Your not even allowed to be this close to me.”
Alec stopped pacing. “I know, that’s why I had to bring you here.”
“Well, you could’ve like, acted nice, then maybe my mom would of let you!” Louisa snapped.
“Don’t raise your voice at me, young lady.” Alec said. He was still not looking at her.
“Don’t talk to me like that! Your not my dad!”
Alec turned then and went to her. “I am, I just never got the chance to be one.”
“Well-well you could have been nicer to Streak!” Then she wished she hadn’t said that, maybe he would forget back him and just torture her.
Alec backed back up and stood there for a second, thinking. “My, everyone’s here today. Now, where might Streak be?”
Louisa pressed her lips together and shook her head, pony tail swinging.
“Louisa, tell me.”
She shook her head and again and looked away. Then she felt her arm being pulled so hard that she thought for sure it would come out of it’s socket. Alec wrapped both hands on both her arms and pulled her close, she could almost touch his face.
“Where is he?” Alec asked again.
“I’m not going to tell you! I came here by myself!”
“I know when your lying, you didn’t’ come here by yourself.”
“I did!”
His grip got tighter. “Where is he?”
Then the door swung open, so hard it bumped into the stone wall.
“Let her go.” Josiah said.
Alec looked one for second at Louisa’s white face and then pushed her back into the chair and turned around.
“Now, Louisa, what were you saying about coming here alone?”
“I-I-I…”
“And it’s a boy, already started dating have we?”
“No! That would be sick.” Louisa was feeling sick herself, not even having to think about dating.
Josiah was pointing a gun at Alec. “Come on, Louisa.” He said.
“NO need for weapons.” Alec said, with a flick of his hand Red Lightning slapped the gun out of Joisah’s hands.
Joisah gave her the look that meant: ‘come on, slowly’.
She got up. And started slowly towards him. When she was sure, she could pass Alec without him noticing, Alec did. He wrapped his arm around her neck and pulled her towards him.
“Let her go!” Josiah said.
Louisa tried pulling herself away from, Alec, but it wasn’t working, her powers weren’t either. Like they would help against her dad anyway.
Then, Alec shot Red Lightning from his free hand sending Josiah sprawling across the room.
“JOSIAH!” Louisa screamed.
“Are you sure you haven’t started dating, sweetie?” Alec asked.
“I’m positive. Now let go!”
But as if in answer, Alec grabbed Louisa by her waist and picked her up and went out the door with a kicking and screaming Louisa.
“I can’t breathe!” she screamed.
“Well, if you stop screaming and kicking, then you can save your breath.” Alec was running out of pations.
Outside the door, Mizraim and two of his troops were there to meet them. They took one look at then now gasping and clawing Louisa and siffeled a laugh, all except Mizraim.
“Do you want me to take her?” he asked.
“No, I want her to learn to obey me, and if you keep taking her, how would that work?” Alec snapped.
Mizraim stepped back to let him pass. “Sorry, sir.”
Alec walked past them, with a still gasping, but not clawing Louisa. He deposited her into one of the thrones and activated the handcuffes on the throne.
“I was hoping I could use those on Madison, but I never got the chance.” He said.
Louisa was still grasping for air, and she knew she was going to throw up. And she did.
“Oh dear.” Alec said.
“And that’s your fault!” she yelled.
“How is it my fault?” Alec questioned.
“Beucase of your stupid power! Now I have it!” she screamed.
Alec took her face into his hand. “It’s not my fault that you can’t control them.”
“Yes it is!”
“It’s not, and I need you to calm down.”
“NO!”
Alec let go and he looked at Louisa’s scar.
“Where did you get that?” he asked.
“From Mizraim.” Louisa said, trying to hold back tears. The stupid medince, it was soupossed to help! Well, she hadn’t really been doing her part, like taking those vitaimes…
“And how did he do this?”
“He hit me.”
Alec’s eyes widened for a second, then they went back to the slits. “Mizraim is strict, but he never hits anyone, unless they had done something terribly wrong.”
“I didn’t do anything!” Her voice was near tears. “I just wanted to get away!” then the tears came.
Alec just stared at her, with widen eyes. He hadn’t seen a child cry before, he had only seen people cry as they were dragged off to their doom. Except that one time, when he had hit Streak so hard that he cried for at least an hour.
The stupid boy. Alec thought. So clueless.
Alec decied that Louisa wasn’t going to stop either. So he took the handcuffs off. “Stop crying!” he ordered. She didn’t, she just got up and went to run. But he grabbed her by the wrist. She turned around towards the steps and threw up. Again. “L-L-Let go!” she cried.
Alec sat down on his throne and gently pulled the sobbing Louisa in front of him.
“Louisa, please, I’m not going to hurt you. I just need you to calm down.”
“I-I-I-I can’t!” she sobbed.
“Your making yourself sick, just relax. I’m not going to hurt you.”
“But you did already!” she sobbed.
“Now, how did I do that?” he asked. Trying to pull Louisa onto his lap. She didn’t let him.
“When you told Mizraim to do anything to get me!” Louisa cried.
Alec felt horrible. Had he really done that?
“I didn’t.” he said.
“Y-Y-you did!” she sobbed. “H-h-he told m-m-me!”
“Here, just sit.” He said. Trying to pull her onto his lap. She still didn’t let him.
“Louisa, please.—“
“No! Let go!” she cried.
This time, he forced her onto his lap. “I need you to chill.”
She tried to get back up, but he didn’t let her. “I don’t want to ‘chill’!” She sobbed.
“Your going to keep getting sick if you don’t.”
Louisa nodded and tried to breathe, but it wasn’t working. She just leaned over and threw up again. Her box was beeping like crazy.
Alec saw the box and said: “What’s this?”
“I-I-It’s soupossed to help me with my p-p-powers, but I-I-it’s not working!”
“Of course it’s not.” He said. He turned the box off and went to pull the needle out. Louisa pulled her hand away. “Just let me take it out, it’s not helping you!”
“L-l-like your going to help me!” she sobbed.
Alec didn’t say anything to that. With his arm that was around her waist (which was holding her down) he held her arm and the other, he pulled the needle out, she cried out. “That hurt!” then she started to breathe normal again.
“There, that wasn’t so bad was it?” he asked.
Louisa shook her head. And then she came back to her spunky self. She tried to pull herself up.
Alec pulled back down. “I need you to listen.” He said.
“But I don’t want to ‘listen’.” Louisa snapped.
“I think I liked it better when you were crying.”
“Go ahead then, make me cry again.”
Alec’s electrity-for-eyes narrowed. “I would never do that.”
“You do it to Streak.”
“I don’t.”
“Then they why is he so afraid of you?”
Alec’s arm got tighter around Louisa’s waist. “Because, he doesn’t listen, and when he doesn’t listen, I get mad.”
“Well, maybe you shouldn’t get mad then!”
“I think you need to learn not to get mad.”
“I’m fine! You’re the one with issues! I’m practicly not breathing right now!”
Alec loosned his grip around her waist. “I don’t have issues.”
“You do!”
“Young lady, I don’t apperate you talking to me like that.”
“You don’t care! If you cared, then you would have been there for me! Or at least tried to get my mom to like you again!”
Alec’s eyes were full of hurt after that. “I did try.—“
“Oh really? Beuase everytime you’d come over, you would get so mad at my mom. Then guess what? She would get mad, and if I didn’t go hide in my room, she would of done something horrible to me. Streak told me how when you came home after that, you hit him.”
Alec’s grip got tighter again. And he stood up, Louisa and all. “Put me down!” she screamed.
“I’ve had enough of you, Louisa.” He said.
“Good! BECAUSE I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!”
His grip got tighter. She yelled out in pain.
“MIZRAIM!” He yelled.
Mizraim was there in a split second, he was spying on them. “Yes my lord?” he asked.
“Take her to Madison’s room. I’ve.—“
“That’s it?” Mizraim snapped.
“Excuse me?”
“That’s all you want me to do? Why can’t I hurt her?”
“Why would you want to do that? You’ve already done it.—“
“I don’t’ care! She’s caused me enough trouble already! I won’t my revenge!” Mizraim went to grab Louisa, but Alec stepped back.
“That’s far enough!” he commanded.
“Oh, I don’t think so.” Mizraim’s knife eyes filed with michef.
Louisa stopped struggling and looked at Mizraim. “Alec…” she said.
“I know, know.” Alec said. He put her down, but still with a hand on her wrist. “Mizraim, I order you to stand down.”
“I don’t think so!” And Mizraim launged at Alec, Alec sidestepped, but he didn’t take Louisa with him. Mizraim landed on Louisa. She screamed as his eyes slashed into her.
“DAD!” She screamed. “DAD!”
Someone grabbed her wrists and said. “Hush, girlie, I’m right here.”
Louisa’s eyes flew open, she wasn’t in the castle anymore, she was in a hospital room. With a machines beeping and a breathing mask on her nose and mouth.
And there was Alec. Smiling down on her. “You ok?” he asked. “That was some dream you were having.”
“It wasn’t a dream, it wasn’t evena nightmare, it was worse than a nightmare it was.—“
“Shhh, it’s ok now. I’m here.” He let go of her and sat down at the end of the bed. “I reamber having a dream like that, those dreams are usaelly trying to tell you something.”
“Like what?” Louisa asked.
Dad looked at her. “Well, what do you think?”
“That, you care about me.”
“Oh course I care about you. I’m your dad.”
Louisa closed her eyes. “I also dreamed about some kids at school, and Streak.”
“Oh man, what did your brother do?”
“Half brother, daddy. Half.”
“Oh, yeah, sorry.” He held up his hands.
“And that, we all hated each other. And I don’t know who they are though. Just Streak I knew.”
Alec’s face became sad. “You mean, Ryan, Marcie, Emily and Joshia?” he asked.
Louisa opened her eyes. “Yeah, them.”
“You might have heard your mother and I talking about how there’s a fued. And then that night, you did such serious sleep walking, we couldn’t wake you up, so we took you to the hospital.”
“So that’s why happened…” her voice trailed off.
“But it’s ok now, it was a dream all a dream.”
Then the door opened and Madison came in. “Louisa honey! Are you alright?” She rushed to the bed.
“I’m fine mom.” She looked at Alec. “Who are…those kids you were talking about?”
“Well…” Alec looked at Madison, Madison nodded. “When your mother and I deforced, it was because I thought some other men were jealous, and that your mother liked them.”
“Which I didn’t. My true love is you father.” Madison gave Alec a kiss, before he contuined.
“So then, those men got married and they had kids. So those kids all hated each other.”
Louisa nodded. “Oh.”
“But it’s all ok now, we’re all friends again. Last night, you didn’t’ hear us finsh your conversation about the fued. We fixed everything, and everyone is happy again.”
“What about the other kids? Are they ok?”
“They’re like you, baby girl. They all had the same dream, so what their parents tell us.”
Louisa smiled to herself. They must have been dreaming that their parents love them even if they don’t think so.
And she closed her eyes and went to sleep, thanking God for giving her the dream, even if it was a hard one. She knew now that her dad and mom loved her, not matter what.
