The Adventures of Albus Potter
chapter 1
So Albus, James, and Rose got onto the Hogwarts Express and waved goodbye to their parents, Lily, and Hugo. This was Albus and Rose's first year at Hogwarts, and they were slightly scared. It was James's second year, and he wasn't scared at all. The three cousins sat in a compartment by themselves. Rose was just about to open up a book when Scorpius Malfoy came into the compartment.
"May I sit with you? Everywhere else is full."
You have to understand some things about these four youth. Albus and James Potter were the sons of Harry and Ginny Potter; Rose Weasley was the daughter of Ron and Hermione Weasley; Scorpius Malfoy was the son of Draco and Astoria Malfoy. Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione were enemies with Draco while they were in school. At least they were nice to each other now. As for this generation, these four didn't look like they would be friends.
"Um... Sure," said Rose trying to be friendly
"Thanks," said Scorpius. There was an awkward silence. Rose didn't even pick up her book.
"So, what house do you think you will be in?" James asked Scorpius even though he knew the answer.
"Slytherin probably. Everyone in my family was," answered Scorpius.
"I wonder why," muttered James sarcastically. Rose elbowed him.
"What house are you in?" Scorpius asked James. He probably knew the answer to that question as well.
"Gryffindor," said James. "I'm hoping Rose and Albus will be in Gryffindor to.
"Are you joking? Rose'll be in Ravenclaw and I'll be in Slytherin," said Albus
"Albus, if James wasn't in Slytherin you wouldn't be in Slytherin. James is twice as mischevous as you," said Rose.
"You sound like Slytherin would be a terrible house. What's wrong with it?" asked Scorpius.
"Let me see, Lord Voldemort was in it for one thing," said James indignatly.
Lord Voldemort was killed nineteen years ago by Harry Potter. Scorpius' dad, and grandfather were death eaters, Voldemort's followers.
There was another awkward silence. No one talked for the rest of the ride to Hogwarts. Albus thought about Scorpius the rest of the trip. They both were known because of their parents. HIs parents had good reputations, but Scorpius' dad had a bad reputation. He figured most people wouldn't like Scorpius. At that moment, Albus decided he would befriend Scorpius no matter what any one said or what house they were in.
chapter 2
The train creaked to a stop as they came to Hogsmeade Station. Scorpius left the compartment before Albus could stop him. The rest of them left the train together. It was pouring down rain.
James said goodbye to Albus and Rose and headed toward the thestral-pulled carrages. Albus and Rose went over to where a giant figure was standing.
"Why if it isn't Albus Potter and Rose Weasley!"
"Hello, Hagrid," said Albus.
"Well, firs' years come with me 'round to the boats," said Hagrid.
All of the first years followed Hagrid over to the boats after they crossed the lake, Albus became worried he would be put in Slytherin. He then remembered what his dad and Rose had said to him and tried to calm down.
Once insice they were met by a familiar face. It was Neville Longbottom, a friend of the Potters and Weasleys who now taught herbology.
"Hello, I am Proffesor Longbottom. Soon you will all be sorted into your houses which are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Now follow me."
The first years followed Proffesor Longbottom into a gigantic room called the Great Hall. They all gathered together while Proffesor Longbottom went to the front of the room.
"When I call your name you will sit on the stoll and I will place the sorting hat on your head. The sorting hat will then call out your house."
"Kit Acon."
A small girl with short blond hair went up to the stool where the sorting hat was placed on her head.
"Ravenclaw!" yelled the sorting hat. Kit ran to the Ravenclaw table where they were cheering.
"Violet Burnstraim."
"Slytherin!"
"Scorpius Malfoy." Albus watched and listened closely to see which house Scorpius would be in.
"Slytherin!" Albus slightly groaned.
"Albus Potter." Albus nervously walked up to the stoll. Neville Longbottom place the sorting hat onto Albus Potter's head. He closed his eyes and worried what house he would be in.
"Gryffindor!"
Albus smiled and ran to sit next to James who was cheering loudly. Albus didn't say it, but the sorting hat wanted to put him in Slytherin. This thought made Albus shudder.
"Rose Weasley." Rose walked up to the stool timidly and sat down.
"Here comes the first Ravenclaw Weasley," said James.
"Ravenclaw!" yelled the sorting hat. Rose ran over to the Ravenclaw table. She looked a little sad that she wasn't with Albus. James and Albus were a little sad as well.
After everyone was sorted the headmistress of Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall, made some start of term announcements and then caused the plates of the students to be filled. Albus had never seen so much food in one place. Albus was excited to start his education at Hogwarts and to become friends with Scorpius.
Chapter 3
Albus woke up in his dormitory which he shared with his fellow Gryffindor first years, Christopher Thomas, Anakin Olaf, and Jonathan Lipsky. He tried to think of how he could make friends with Scorpius. Unfortunately Christopher Thomas interrupted his thoughts.
"Hi, I'm Christopher Thomas, but you can call me Chris," said Chris.
"I'm Albus Potter," said Albus Potter.
"Our dads were in school together. Dad even said he dated your mom for a while," said Chris.
Albus didn't know what to say.
"Well, I'll see you in the Great Hall later," said Albus. He hurried out of Gryffindor tower and walked around looking for Scorpius. He searched for half an hour but couldn't find him. He tried finding the Great Hall instead.
"Where have you been?" asked James when Albus came up to him in the Great Hall.
"Just looking for someone," said Albus. He didn't want to reveal his longing for a friendship with Scorpius till he had to. He sat down and helped himself to some eggs.
Just then, a flock of owls flew into the room. One owl flew right up to Albus. It had a letter tied to its leg which read the following:
Dear Al,
How are you doing so far at Hogwarts? We were so happy to find out that you got into Gryffindor from Neville. Don't worry about Rose not being in the same house as you. Your dad and I miss you and James very much.
Love,
Mom
P. S. Don't forget about tea with Hagrid tomorrow.
After Albus had finished reading his mom's letter, Professor McGonagall passed out their class schedules. Today he had potions, astronomy, history of magic, and transfiguration. He was hopeful because James had told him that Gryffindor had potions with Slytherin. That would give him a perfect opportunity to talk to Scorpius.
Before potions he had to go to history of magic. He had heard from James that this was an extremely boring class. James was right about this. History of magic was taught by Professor Bins, a Hogwarts ghost. He went on and on about goblin wars.
By the time class was over half the class looked like they had fallen asleep. The only person who was fully alert was Rose. She was busily scribbling down notes.
"That's just like Rose," thought Albus, smiling to himself. he knew she would do wonderfully in all of her classes. AS for himself, he wasn't sure.
On the way to potions in the dungeons he tried to come up with a strategy on how to talk to Scorpius. He finally decided on being slightly late and seeing if there was a seat next to Scorpius.
When he came in he found out that the first part of his plan went perfectly and that was the only part that did work out. He came in and sat next to Scorpius. Just then the professor came into the room.
"Sorry I'm late. My name is Professor Slughorn." He talked for a little while longer until he saw Albus and Rose.
"Could you two be Albus Potter and Rose Weasley?" Professor Slughorn asked.
"Yes, sir," answered Albus.
"Why two of my best students were Harry Potter and Hermione Granger." Albus didn't know what to say. His dad had told him about Professor Slughorn. He had no ambition to be in the Slug Club. Just then he noticed something, it was Scorpius' face. He was looking right at him angrily. Albus wasn't sure how this was going to go.
